We've seen it before, but here's yet another drag race. Goes exactly as we know it will, Mach E holds well and even wins one, but the 5.0 has better high-end speed.
Once Ford figures out how to not cripple the MME GT with a 5 second limit, it will be a drag strip monster. Honestly, even giving full power for 8 seconds will see the MME easily beat the 5.0.
@Ford Motor Company take notice...everyone is unhappy this car loses power at 80mph! Doesn't matter much on public roads (yes, people, passing is still more than possible at high speeds) but it would still be nice to unleash the full power!

Would be funny if the GT and GTPE never had a hardware reason for the 5 second rule and Ford just did that so that ICE Mustang owners wouldn't be any more pissed than they already are. If you look at the numbers I believe the GT500 0-60 is only 3.7. Without the 5 second limiter I would think that the GTPE would easily match if not beat it's 1/4 mile runs. - maybe not

Pretty much as expected. Especially with the slightly modified GT (extra 40 hp from bolt ons).

Exceptā€¦ā€¦ it was MUCH closer at the 1/2 mile roll race than I would have expected. Not a bad showing.

Definitely not. GT500 0-60 is extremely traction limited. Itā€™s a high 10 second 1/4 mile car.

No limits and we would be high 11s.

1 second in the 1/4 mile is an eternity.

On the street most races just happen from street light to street light and the Mach E will always be superior on that type of deal. Ford really needs to get with it and resolve the 5 second cut back.

Yeah, if anything, this video proves that little street light pulls will usually see the Mach E ahead.

Mags have gotten 3.3 - 3.5s to 60 out of the GT500, as well as 11.0 -11.3 1/4 miles on the factory tires (Michelin Pilot 4S or Sport Cup 2s) And, the 132mph 1/4 mile trap speed is like the jump to hyperspace from the GTPEā€™s 12.7@101-102 traps.

Yup.

Unlimited the GTPE May trap around 112-113 mph. No chance against a GT500 with traction.

Itā€™s a good thing any time you see one on the street, traction will be severely limited and hopefully no one is racing above 100 mph.

Having driven 2 GT500s now I will say this with confidence - if you leave the Traction Control on you will very likely crack off a 3.6-3.9 run. The 500 owners here on the board can attest to that, Iā€™m sure. And, launch control isnā€™t even necessary unless at the dragstrip. Most testers have been switching TC off and then blowing off the tires and lamenting their slow runs. Conventional wisdom of turning TC off is no longer valid at current power levels.

Ford and GM have gotten so good in their TC and Stability Control tuning in the last decade that you can almost never run better times with them switched off. At least not on regular street surfaces, of course.

Similar story with automatic versions of performance cars. If you want to go fast in a straight line it's a lot more boring than it used to be šŸ˜

I had a Shelby GT 350 in front of me a couple of months ago at a light to get onto a ramp to the EZ Pass lanes of the DC beltway. The guy was giving me that "you don't have a real Mustang" glare, and I knew he was going to punch it on green to have me eat dust.

When the light changed, I stayed right on his bumper up the ramp. We shot out of the ramp at 90, and I stayed with him to 110 before backing off (I don't want to go to jail). But I wanted him to know I could do this all. day. long. BTW, I left it in Whisper mode and I didn't need to floor the accelerator to keep up - likely also the reason I didn't experience the down throttle at 80 mph.
