This was good. It was good that he did this road trip. He admitted to a few issues in the video but downplayed them, but I am sure he experienced some of the real issues we all face and didn't include fully in the video. Since he's the new CEO, I'm hoping he does address some of the issues. He did mention they are planning on retrofitting canopies, which is good.

Needs to travel the southern belt through texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Won't make it without stopping at a competitor. Overall, canopies are definitely needed and improving the reliability and technology. It will be interesting to see where the networks are in 5 years

Edit: I've been to that Reston charging station. It's very well maintained! Haha but it's also one of the more barren with not much around as far as food options, although that seems to be changing with some more buildings going up.

Right, because by 2028 there are definitely going to be a lot more BEVs on the road. I don't think there will be a single auto maker without a BEV in its line up by then.

I would hope the dealership and Walmart networks would be up and running by then as well.

Oh but BEVs might have more range and faster charging curves too 😁🤔. This transition is going to be crazy 🙂.

This was an interesting watch, But i am sure he did not show all issues and or the team knew what sites he was hitting and ensure all was well. Loved when he call the helpline, you think they put him at the top of the phone Queue and had issue fix ASAP ??

Yeah I'm sure the route was carefully curated to make sure there were stations. Like @2FlyMache said, take the southern route, or even better, drive through Montana, would have been a different video, but, still progress as even so there were problems.

I was thinking the same thing while watching. 🤣

I have gone from So Cal to Houston and to Seattle. I ONLY use EA. My BIGGEST issue is that EA should NEVER have LESS than 8-10 charging machines. 4 is ridiculous as one ALWAYS is broken. EA for some STUPID reason REFUSES to institute charging fees after 80%. Hyundais and VW get FREE UNLIMITED CHARGING FOR 3 YEARS. The owners do NOT give a crap if they are charging at 13 KWH hours to get to 100% while lines form waiting for a charger. With 8-10 charges which are all over LA the wait is almost non existent. Wall mart is launching their own charging network. I am sure it will have a crap load of chargers.

I agree that the free charging is a big problem that will only get worse as time goes on. This was on a recent Saturday at one of our local EA stations. One of the 8 stations down, 5 had cars with free charging, and the 2 Tesla's were Uber/Lyft drivers filling up.

I will note that most manufactures that include free charging right now do limit it to a 30 minute session and then a couple hours have to pass before that resets.

I stopped at a Bank of America EA station the other day, 4 stalls, 1 was down. I took the last open spot, and two other vehicles came after me and were waiting. At one of the stalls was a woman with a BMW i4 that was complaining about the connection issues she had. I asked her if she had L2 installed at home and she replied "I do, but I got 2 years of free charging so I want to use it up."

So many people get caught up on the free and do not factor in the 30 minutes or more they will be sitting there when they could be filling up at home for around $10 for the charge.

This is the key isn't it... the team knew where the boss was going and what to check in advance to minimize spikey conversations when he is at headquarters... not exactly a secret shopper.

Haha I thought the same thing. Doubt he even called the generic number. He probably called an engineer directly.

That's right... and at the same time if he did a perfect coast to coast trip, he would have no credibility... he had to have some in the advertisement er... video... anyone who has been to an EA station more than a few times has seen dead or slow stations.

I actually think he had a lot more issues than we see, but they didn't want to focus on the negative but rather focus on the "Our new CEO is one of you, he feels your pain" 🤣
