Ford sends message offering points/cash for Jan 2023 Mach-E buyers. Also clarifies refund timeline

Just got this message in FordPass. Looks like those of us who bought a 2023 pre price cut will be getting only half the refund amount in cash, the rest will be in FordPass points…

The big catch is at the end, Ford Options is considered a lease? There’s no way that can be correct.

I contacted the number at the end of the message and they confirmed they don’t have any additional info beyond what we have. I was also told that they’re creating/entering the offers as we speak.

My understanding of the real difference between owning (outright / financing) a vehicle and leasing is who owns the car during the first few years. Based on Financing for F-150 Lighting & Mustang Mach-E | Ford Options | Official Site of Ford Credit, it appers that Ford Options not considered a lease.

Did they tell you that you only qualify for 1/2 credit?

They didn’t know anything more than what’s written. He actually read out his internal version which had tiny differences in wording so I could tell it was a different document, but it had the same information including the bit about Options and Red Carpet Lease.

It probably has to do with the residual value and the fact that you can turn the car back to ford with options

I ordered an MME Dec 7, 2021. The price was raised $2000 the next day. Farley told dealers to follow the price protection promise. I waited a year for them to deliver the ordered MME. I chose to buy the MME because the dealer said they would seek a refund from Ford if I paid the $2000 increased MSRP. I bought the MME with the $2000 overcharge (and $155 sales tax on the overcharge). I'm now at day 73 of waiting to see a "refund" check from the dealer. I'm told it will be more like 90 days, maybe longer. The dealer says it's all on Ford. So much for "good will", eh?

I missed the footnote you highlighted indicating they include Ford Options in the 'leased' category.

At least they defined in their initial communication how they intend to treat those with Ford Options rather than you wait to find out when your refund actually arrives....

I got the same message and I am very disappointed. What may I going to do with 600,000 ford reward points. I would have preferred the refund fully in cash

The best use for 600,00 FordPass Points would be replacement tires, I'm thinking.

so anyone getting this massage that bought a car right off a dealer lot? IM not getting the email and I bought mine jan27th. the lady on the phone seemed clueless on this and told me since i bought mine off the lot i dont qualify? I was that cant be right I still bought and took delivery in the jan time frame. if this is true talk about pissed off. i bought my car on the Friday before the press release and the next business day they announce the lower price

I got mine the Friday before the price cut at local Ford dealer. I got the email for the $3K money and "3K worth" Ford points. I'm not sure what will do with Ford points. How many years are they good for?

Under the new Ford Points offer for "3K" worth of Ford Points vs 3K of real money --- how long are Ford Points good for? I am not sure maintenance visits will use those up - sure hope not. Also not expecting to need new tires for a few years. So perhaps these will just expire before can be reasonably used for anything....

so same as me you just bought it off the lot on the friday before?

Yes. Test driven and bought it Friday the 27th. They just happened to have one in color and configuration I would have ordered if that had been needed. But that put me in Ford system for being included in this offer. The dealer called me Saturday to tell me they just got the news and that customers should expect the emails direct on Monday.
