So I got my car 3 days ago. Been playing with bluecruise. I'm in the greater Denver area. Supposedly only works on I25,i70,and I76. I was on two different roads yesterday and it worked on both??

Anybody else seeing something like this?

Are you sure it's actually BC?

The reason I say this is because when you activate regular cruise it says on the display that Bluecruise is on, but it's not. You can tell because the little icon below the car bubble has hands and the lane centering is green instead of blue.

I should note that if you have BC enabled you will have the eyeball nanny for all cruise types (not just for bluecruise), so that won't help you determine if it's on. If it's regular cruise you will have the eyeball nanny and the hand nanny...

Nope, it's blue cruise. Whole dash goes blue and I drove for 10 minutes without touching the wheel.

Why do you suppose BlueCruise only works on the three highways you mentioned? Do you have access to a detailed map? And if so, please share it. ;)

What were the additional two roads where it worked but you hadn't expected that it would?

The ford map you can Google only shows the 3 interstates in the denver area.

Worked on E470 and 285.

I’ve had “blue cruise is on” notification pop up on some of the local roads too.

I’m guessing they will be constantly expanding the available roads. I’m waiting for an interactive map, or something better than the JPEG map ?

April 4, 2021 Press release here - https://media.ford.com/content/ford...road-trips-bluecruise-hands-free-driving.html

" Currently, more than 100,000 miles of highways across North America are dedicated Hands-Free Blue Zones in the Ford GPS mapping system. "

"Future enhancements are planned to include Lane Change Assist that will let the vehicle change lanes with just a tap of the turn signal indicator, and Predictive Speed Assist that will adjust vehicle speed for road curves, roundabouts and more.

Ford also plans to offer regular mapping updates for the technology to recognize changes plus thousands of miles of planned new road additions."

They've said from day one it will continue to expand, so no surprise that it is.

Ok, I’m wondering about this as well.

The manual is…….. vague on the subject.

It says to enable intelligent cruise control, then enable lane centering and it has to be able to see the lines.

So I tried both on a very local street (30 mph). A blue bubble showed around a picture of the car and I removed my hands. It slowed for a car in front of me, sped up, took a curve, kept going.

Hands off the wheel.

Twice during the short stretch it did say to keep eyes on the road and hands on wheel. Then the rest of the time, hands free.

Nothing I could find in the manual said anything except that you need to be able to see the lines on the road.

This is not blue cruise. This is adaptive cruise and lane centering. The entire dash will go blue and says blue cruise engaged (or something like that) . You don't have to have hands on wheel at all. (Until it finds a corner that is to sharp).

Have you had a chance to drive all of the Loops in the valley? I'm assuming all of those plus I-10 & I-17.

Two points:
  1. Yes, I’ve had BlueCruise unexpectedly enabled on some four-lane divided highways that were not Interstates. Agree that these areas will continue to expand.
  2. it seems that Ford has changed the branding a bit, so that Adaptive Cruise is now referred to as BlueCruise and they add the “hands-free” label when you can remove your hands from the wheel (accompanied by the entire instrument cluster going blue and the large hands-free icon).
