With ACC and LKA, the only difference BlueCruise offers is that you can be completely handsfree. But even so, you're supposed to pay attention to the road and for your safety, you shouldn't be hands free for long anyways. ACC/LKA can also resume automatically on highways during standstill traffic. I guess with the new BC, it can automatically change lanes too but I'm not sure I would even use that feature. What am I missing?
Not much. I can go hands-free for extended periods by just nudging the steering wheel with my knee.

Put an ankle weight on the steering wheel with ACC and lane centering and you’ve got bootleg blue cruise for free 99….

For my commute to work 31 miles away it works well. More mapping would certainly have me use it more. Its also just a cool thing to watch the tech take over.

I received 3 years free when I bought my 21 GT and it was extended a year for free. It is scheduled to expire in 2 weeks and I don't plan to renew. It has been a disappointing 3.5 years with 1.0 basic BC and 6 months of 1.3 that still requires turn signal inputs. Not what i expected when I put my deposit in a year before they were available.

It seems that you actually know what blue cruise does and doesn't do, so.....not sure the point of the post, just to gripe?

The more I think about it I wish there was a button or assistant command that could turn it off and on. It was nice when passing slow trucks, but I would have like being able to temporarily turn it off in some situations and digging through the menus while driving isn’t an option.
Totally agree with this. Sometimes (e.g. eating a sandwich or changing the music) I just want to follow behind a slow car/truck in the right lane without having to be vigilant for lane changes or someone riding my bumper in the left lane because I'm not going fast enough for them.

Are we sure about that? I've never seen it mentioned by Ford. I'm not sure I've noticed a difference. Can you give me some examples so I can watch for them?
We’ve asked @Ford Motor Company many times to weigh in on whether “hands off” BC has more accurate LC/ACC than “hands on” BC. Ford has never chimed in. Which pretty much tells you all you need to know. But people keeps posting stuff like this like it’s an article of faith.

I was able to get the 3 years for $600 deal and it is worth it at that price ($17/mo). Just did a road trip this weekend and used it 95% of the trip. At $50 per month I would not renew, since I have a GM vehicle with SuperCruise and it is only $25 per month once my 3 year free trial is up. The GM system is more advanced than BlueCruise and has way more mapped roads as well.
Similar for me. My 2021 got BC free for about 18 months. At end of 2023 I ponied up the $600 to renew for 3 years that’ll take me through the end of 2026. At that point I might renew if the price is right, but definitely not for anything close to $50 per month. And I use BC daily.

I've only had my Mach E for a week, tried BlueCruise a few times. It tried to lane-change around a slow driver and while it was signaling, the guy behind me switched lanes and floored it. I would have been able to handle it but Bluecruise panicked, turned off and screamed at me to take over, in the middle of the lane change while I was straddling two lanes.

I get that drivers in my city are aggressive a-holes, but I'd think it could have failed a bit more gracefully, like moving back into the still-open lane I was half out of.

Not sure I'll continue the subscription when the 90 days is up. It could have easily caused an accident with the sudden panic.

I just took a trip from WA to CA and used blue cruise on I5, even over the mountains, worked perfectly and allowed me to relax. Passing worked very well, and a couple times I cancelled passing with the turning signal. I was very happy with its performance And will use it again on my next trip.

It makes sense for super long trips with barely any any cars but since I live in the city with very busy highways, I can't ever truly relax while driving

The main advantage that I see for using BC is I don't get yelled at to keep my hands on the steering wheel every so many seconds, even when my hands are on the steering wheel. I guess I just don't tug on the wheel enough otherwise. Ford needs to add the capacitive feature that Hyundai/Kia has that doesn't require the tug.

That's how I use it. I really wouldn't trust it in busy traffic, especially not automatic lane changing.

That would ruin my ankle weight hack!
