Well well well, my bluff has been called. I have had 2 reservations for quite some time and originally I planned Premium AWD SR.
Not too long after justifying that amount of money I convinced myself I needed the ER. Watching them from build to delivery has been fun, and I told myself I would buy whichever MME made it here first.
Barring any delivery delays the ER should be here in roughly 2 weeks.
The dealer texted me a few times about the SR that arrived yesterday and so I will go test drive it around 1:30pm today.
SR is 45 mins away or so. ER would arrive in my town just up the street.
Maybe in this short time I could be talked into impulse (which Iā€™m a big fan of) or patience (that and brevity have always escaped me)

Damned....I can't get one car and you're looking at having to decide between two? ?
? I did honestly feel guilty at first. Iā€™m in Alaska and I have family in Texas (who are dealing with what Alaska used to be). But Iā€™m also fickle, and here I am... ?

For sure. My commute in total is about 70 miles. Iā€™m only ā€œguaranteedā€ 120V charging at work. I installed a charger in my garage. There is a good chance I may be able to get 240V at work but I donā€™t want to push it.
Witchita is where my mom is from, I spent a lot of years growing up visiting. Hope all is well down there.

Agree with @JayTee: get the ER in Alaska. Without knowing how much range loss you'll get at those temps, err on the side of caution if you can afford it.

I don't think the acceleration difference is significant enough to matter: 4.8 vs 5.2. The two weeks shouldn't matter, either. So you really just have to decide if 270 vs 211 miles of range is worth an extra $5,000.

To me, it was, because I take sporadic road trips where that extra range really matters. If you don't plan to road trip, then even in Alaska with a 70mi commute you should be fine with 211. Ask yourself: what are the reasonable situations in which I might want that extra 60 miles such that I'm willing to pay $5,000 more for it? If you can't identify any compelling reasons, save the $5,000.

Maybe "Alaska infrastructure" gives you a compelling reason. But frankly, if you lose power for more than a day you're probably screwed no matter which range you chose. My two cents.

Another voice of reason, i appreciate that.
I havenā€™t been waiting as long as most, but Iā€™ve waited this long 2 weeks really is a drop in the bucket.
I dont see why it would, but has anyone noticed with the power train faults and deep sleep, if theyā€™re affecting one in particular? Like ER or SR?
FWIW the deep sleep is affecting at least 2021 F150ā€™s as well. Probably more to do with kinks in the connectivity functions.

Some people need the extra range, and some people don't. If you don't, the extra money is mostly going to a "just in case" scenario. In my opinion, $5000 is a lot to pay for "just in case".

Ordinarily I would agree with you. But at -30 degrees he'll be lucky to get half the range out of the battery. Being stranded on the road at -30 is not where you want to be.

But half the range is still enough for his commute. Anything beyond that is where the ā€œjust in caseā€ comes in.

I know, dang.
When I was build and pricing them last year I always chose AWD standard range. Iā€˜ve never owned an EV before and had no idea about seasonal range loss at the time.
I will at least drive the thing today and add to my little soap opera as I live it. ?

Yes, but "half" is a guess. It could be far worse than that, particularly as the battery gets older. a $5000 (10%) insurance policy feels reasonable to me.

Just a suggestion for OP's situation, and not trying to tell you to change your mind about what you bought.

I know, and I appreciate the discussion. I think weā€™re kinda making the same point. You called it ā€œinsuranceā€ and I called it ā€œjust in caseā€, but the point is the same. How reasonable the cost of that insurance is is the real question that the OP will need to answer, and our opinions canā€˜t really answer that for him, unfortunately.
