Has anyone had any luck using this? I have tried to use it three separate times and it never sees to pick up open spaces as available.
Tips and tricks?

Thanks!

Have you tried using it to park where there is one space available between two parked vehicles?

We did it with a bit of a fake setup. It wasn't really a parallel spot or a real parking space. It worked well for those situations, but I want to test it in some real parking attempts. One thing I did read is that it is scanning for objects, not parking lines. So it can't even back into a space unless there is a car/object on both sides of that space.

Really hoping this works great as it's probably my wife's number 1 request for the car

Didn't work at all for me. First time it parked on the sidewalk. Second time it almost rammed my neighbor's Maserati (can you blame it?). Third time is couldn't find anywhere it wanted to park.

I think it will work for parallel spots with other vehicles parked, but you'll have to get used to the speed. It backs in aggressively. I believe @Mach-E VLOG mentioned this in his video. which is what inspired me to try it out.

Yep, I was surprised how fast it backed up. I think someone standing outside the car wouldn't think it was fast. But sitting in the car and watching the rearview camera, it feels fast.

If it can’t follow lines, it’s as good as I am at backing in. ;)

Perhaps if I back in fast using the camera .... ;)

I was hoping to park the car in the garage by backing it up as that puts the charger next to the port. Looks like it won’t work unless it sees a car already parked next and the wall ( two objects) .. will have to try when I get the car but scared to not damage the garage of the walls or the car.

Ca you control the speed while it is parallel parking?

I did it for the first time today. It does back up fast. I slightly tapped the brakes at one point thinking I could slow it down.

Initiating it meant I had to start BEFORE the open space, parallel to a parked car, and drive past the open space for the Mach E to detect the space. I don’t think it would have worked without detecting the other vehicles.

I was happy with the overall parking job. It was perfectly aligned and close to the curb without bumping the wheels against it. I will probably use it again in the future.

Me too! First time I used it I slammed on the brakes I was so scared it was just gonna ram the car behind me! Second time I let it do its thing and it worked but still scared me. I had this feature in my Chevy Volt and it was nice and slow, gave me more comfort. The MME parks like it's got a job interview it's about to be late for.

I want a Garage Park Assist option. I line up the car rear end first and then let the car back it into the garage making sure to line it up as to not touch the side mirrors. With my charger location, backing in is best but would LOVE it if the car took over. Come on, Ford, make it happen!
