Basically, it should be revisited in a month probably.
Yeah, I wish there was a way to get just the new entries. Transferring all the data to Excel was not straightforward (at least for me) and I had to do a lot of editing to fix it.

My FE was built 1/15 and should be on the lot by 2/27 (maybe a few days earlier we'll see).
You're doing better than average. There were 101 FEs on the list. I excluded 2 for using reservation date instead of order date. Of the remaining 99....

Order to BuildOrder to DeliveryBuild to Delivery
Average # of days14519559
# of ordersn=66n=23n=22
Range in days16 - 19475 - 23731 - 89

Interesting that the FE build to delivery time is exactly the same as the general build to delivery time. Of course, 22 of the 78 cars delivered so far are FEs, so they have a big influence on the numbers.

Here are the calculated averages for available data as of Feb 20, 2021:
Order to BuildOrder to DeliveryBuild to Delivery
Average # of days16221259
# of ordersn=363n=88n=78
Range in days16 - 27775 - 26820 - 99
So at 242 days Order to build I am waiting more than most for my FE, but not as much as a few who are waiting up to 277?! ! If build to delivery is right, it will be 59 days exactly based on the projected March 4 delivery date.

In the tracking table thread, yours is listed as 191 days order to build, which is second to longest just behind 194 days for the 66 FEs with order to build dates (see table on FEs in post above).

I noticed that the order to build is calculated on estimated build, not actual build. Most people don't submit the actual build. I guess your actual build was later and that accounts for the discrepancy? Or, did you mean order to delivery?

My mistake, too much multi-tasking. 191 is correct (not that it makes me any happier to be in second place among the FEs to take the longest to be build!).

According to Ford, my Premium Infinite Blue AWD ER was built on 18 Jan 2021 and will arrive at my suburban Philadelphia dealer (Pacifico Marple Ford Lincoln) sometime between 26 Mar 2021 and 1 Apr 2021. That's 67 - 72 days.

My thinking is that there are several factors, including geographic location, dealer volume, order date, etc.

Just as Ford sorts out production and delivery issues we are likely to face component delays. The Taiwan chip shortage is a real thing. It mostly impacts Tier 1 suppliers who build electronic subassemblies for the OEMs. Manufacturers like Ford have little visibility or control of this parts stream. If the folks who build the circuit board for the stereo, inverter, DC-DC converter... the list is endless. If any one of them can't build the board it is not a realistic option to find a replacement quickly. This issue blindsided OEMs worldwide and will reduce global auto sales this year.

This is great! I should have thought of this sooner.

I looked through some of the data, and I think you're right that the order-build and build-delivery days are based on estimated and not actual dates. I've been putting in formulas based on calculations of actual dates to get more accurate durations, but this dataset is severely lacking in actual dates. When I filtered out all blanks in the "actual" dates columns in the "All" tab, only 10 cars were left. For those 10 cars, the average build to delivery duration came out to 68 days.

One option is to go through each car with a complete VIN and put it in the tracker, and pull out dates that way. The forum tracker gives you all dates except actual delivery date, but Ford's order tracking site includes an actual delivery date. It would be tedious, but it would clean up the data. If only we could find some sucker to do that...

I noticed a lot of threads asking about order to build time and order to delivery time. Some data on these times can be found in the "Submitted Orders # Tracking List and Stats" thread, but the problem is data are presented in an HTML table that can not be sorted or analyzed. Scrolling through the table trying to make sense of build and delivery waits is difficult.

So, I copied the data out of the tracking thread (694 records on 02-20-2021) and pasted it into an Excel sheet. I corrected some entries that had an obvious error in date entry resulting in negative # of days in the results. I also excluded data with order dates months earlier than the 06-26-2020 start of the reservation to order conversion (highlighted in red text). These are likely reservation dates, not order dates, and result in artificially high order to build/delivery times that may skew the averages higher.

Here are the calculated averages for available data as of Feb 20, 2021:
Order to BuildOrder to DeliveryBuild to Delivery
Average # of days16221259
# of ordersn=363n=88n=78
Range in days16 - 27775 - 26820 - 99

I also sorted the data by model and created separate tabs in the Excel file to see if model matters for wait times. I did some more playing around, such as sorting by order number (do newer orders have shorter waits?), but didn't create separate tabs for this.

I guess others may like to play with it, so I attached the file (in zip file). Each tab is sorted by order date. Post if you find anything interesting.
Nice job. Thanks for the work.

Some of us are going to skew these numbers even further though. Order (June 26) to build: 229 days. Build to delivery: I’ll let you know. Once it does ship (2 weeks and counting on that) it’ll be a minimum of 11 weeks to get here. Yes I live in the USA. ;)

I noticed when they updated every one with orders recently most got build dates before me. I ordered Nov 15 and build date of May 30. People ordered in dec and Jan got build dates before me. No rhyme or reason to it. But im happy i got a date!
I wonder if build dates have anything to do with trim and colors? Does Ford try to lump together birds of a feather?

I ordered my base Select/RWD/Std battery on Jan 2 2021 & and have an assigned build date April 12. Only options were white paint and comfort/tech package.

I wonder if different trims/colors might be grouped together for builds?

Yup, It'd be hard to clean up and get more data for this. I think we will have to rely on people on the forum submitting as much info as possible into the tracking thread and then doing another analysis in a month or so . It's really hard to draw any conclusions on impact of model, trim, color, etc. My guess is none so far but numbers are too small to be certain of anything.

At least this gives an idea of the average times from order to build/delivery so far.

Kamuelaflyer, We'll have to exclude you from the analysis once you take delivery! lol :D

It hasn't shipped yet. So taking delivery is still way in the future. Given the date, I do not expect to see the car before extremely late May or very early June.

Yeah, sounds like a very long wait. Hopefully it will come sooner. We need more good surprises.

Thanks for the summary - I did some similar graphing a while back and saw the same trends. I hope that the Order -> Build really starts getting shorter, it is heavily weighted now by people who ordered long before production began. As those early orders get completed the value should reduce and settle down at some shorter number of days.

If it helps, here is the direct link to the actual Google Spreadsheet (view only), which might make it easier to copy/paste out of (in particular for grabbing only new rows):

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lBgAEQVufjImIIq3wllYvqupRNTZD3wfSoiRZRrJlAg

I had the same issues you did with some data cleanup - mostly transposing "2020" and "2021" in dates so your durations are either WAY too long, or a negative number. I also improved the data a bit in my copy by moving any order date from prior to 6/22/2020 up to that date - anything earlier and the user entered their reservation date (which isn't the same as the order date).

Happy analyzing - I'm sure I'll be looking at this closely right up until I get my car, at which point I will promptly forget all about it. ;)

EDIT: Had to change to code to display the URL - the forum software VERY BADLY wants to make that spreadsheet link an embedded view...

Any idea what's the average Build to Ship timeframe? Mine went into production last week and I'm curious to know when it'll be shipped.
