Do other electric cars have front trunks that are purely electrically opened with no intervening latch that must be mechanically actuated? For example, what is the opening sequence for a front trunk on a Tesla? What about the Nissan Leaf? Chevy Bolt?

Yes, you can open a Tesla frunk from the app. I don’t believe the Bolt or Leaf have a frunk.

I think by putting in the app with a 4 digit code(maybe the same one to open your car or start your car) would solve the problem. I mean you are not going to accidentally enter that code while you are driving right?

I don't know the specific regulation in question, but the concern is that if the hood opens up while the vehicle is in motion that the wind would further lift it up and block the driver's view. While the trunk opening while in motion isn't great, it's not nearly the same impact as the hood.
Blocking my view would be the least of my worries. The wind catching it, ripping it off the hinges and taking out the windshield would be even worse,

Or just require that the car be in 'Park' to operate the release. If a kid manages to lock themselves in the frunk and the car is *not* in Park then possibly the release button could be programmed to send an alert to the Ford Pass app as well as display an on-screen alert to stop the car.

Are there any other ways in opening the frunk aside from manually doing so on the driver's side? (Such as thru the app or the key?)

Also, can you remote start the car with the physical key? Or just the app?
Can remote start from app or from the FordPass Apple Watch app if you have an Apple Watch.

some weird safety thing it seems. ridiculous limitation.
Its also the reason you have to pull it twice. Same as any car. First to unlatch the hood, second, reaching your fingers under the hood to un hook and open.

How hard could it possibly be to code the Frunk NOT to open unless in Park? Come on guys... I'm beginning to hate this Frunk.

So, that rules out the “blocking the view” hypotheses”. NHTSB would have been all over Tesla if that were the case.
