What's the trick to get the pony puddle lights to come one?

Week one with the grabber blue FE. Love the car. One day one the puddle lights worked, lit up as I approached the car. They have not not worked since. I checked the settings and the welcome lighting is toggled on. Any thoughts?

It's very hit and miss for me as well. Last weekend they lit up like a christmas tree anytime my partner and I walked past the car in the garage (sometimes without even having our phone or FOB nearby). Here recently I haven't seen them at all...

This is from the handbook that we in the UK have access to. Presumably it's the same for the US. Have you checked in settings on the main screen that you have autofold turned on

Puddle Lamps
The puddle lamps turn on when you
approach your vehicle with a remote
control or phone. If your vehicle has
auto-folding mirrors, the puddle lamps are
only on if the mirrors are folded and turn
off when the mirrors unfold.

Only two days with MME but there is some logic to when the car detects presence and welcomes versus ignores. Last night it detected my fob or phone and lights up from 20 ft as I am coming into the garage. But next couple of hours I am walking on and off around the car (its locked) with my phone and fob and it does nothing. I do think it is doing what it is supposed to but we dont have clarity on how it prioritizes phones, fobs etc.

Yup but its not consistently turning the puddle lamps on as described above in the manual. That seems to be the issue

This works for me every time: Press Start, Press Stop, Lock w/fob, walk away, come back, see pony.

They worked only once in the last 10 days. Welcome light option is on. Mirrors do fold and unfold upon unlocking. No pony projection lights since the one time I saw them. Maybe a service issue?

I'm surmising Ford wants to use the puddle lights when driver leaves vehicle after trip, say to go to a restaurant (remember those?) and comes back to "welcome" lighting. Lights only illuminate on return to vehicle and not when offboarding at destination. Pony will continue to be re-projected during repeated "walkings" out-of-range and returning until an unknown period of time has elapsed (30 min, 1hr, more?) After that time, puddle's will only come on if a Start/Stop has occurred. My guess is Ford was trying to avoid Welcome Lighting every time owner's walk near the car when a "trip" is not involved. [Example: You get home from a drive, park car, go inside, remember you need something in garage, go back, puddle lights come on, go back inside, remember something else you need, go right back to garage, puddle lights come on again, etc. Hour(s) go by, you go back to garage (with PAAK/FOB of course), no Welcome Lighting...even if you Unlock.]

BTW: VEHICLE POWER DOWN TIMER is on (30 minutes).

I think I figured it out. When I turn the car off, there is a prompt if I want to disable the motion sensors. If I say 'no', the pony puddle lamps work every time. Am curious if others have noticed this.

Interesting - I have to try this - I disabled internal motion sensors.
Question is when puddle lights come on do back and front lights come on too? We may not see puddle lights but we can see the back lights easily. I have seen the outside lights come on when I get near the car only twice or thrice. I am assuming f the lights turn on (indicating recognize your presence) then puddle lights should be on because they do turn off once you press the door open (the mirrors open). Just curious about the logic it applies.

If I recall, the taillights, side running lamps, and the DRLs all come on.

Motion sensors are for the inside of the car, part of the anti-theft, so not sure how that would correlate.

I wonder if they're tied to a light sensor too. In the dealer's service bay they didn't work, I actually didn't know the car had them until last night when I came out to the car in a parking lot and saw them on.

I just tried this and it made no difference with my MME.
