Now that there are many of you that have a BEV for the first time, you should research this problem.

I just saw another person fell victim to a mouse causing $2800 in damage.

This guy put a TRAP under the hood after $1500 in damage!

Nice nest.

This is my biggest complaint about all the plastic covering under the hood. There's no way to see if you have a freeloading stowaway until something breaks or the smell saturates the air filter. I keep a peppermint oil scented pouch under the hood of both BEVs, but it's not 100% effective. Every time I wash the car, I wash under the hood and check for evidence of squatters.

Wow, had not idea. My dog is chasing squirrels every morning and evening. Hopefully she'll keep them away. Especially this time of the year. There are juveniles everywhere.

It's warm and dry and not covered in nasty oil sludge like your old ICE vehicles. Good luck to us all. Google any BEV forum and you'll find owners with huge repair bills from these furry creatures. I've found evidence of new tenants a few times, and I check regularly. ... I'm going to go check right now.

Oh wow, I hadn’t thought of this. I should have though, as I’ve seen them eat through Christmas light wires.

In Honda Clarity, mice and voles were some how getting into the HVAC system. They nest in or near the air filter, and eventually chew through that, and move out into the hoses. After a post at a forum, members starting checking their cabin filters, and the vast majority had some signs of mice at the filter, if not a full nest like the OP at that forum. I was one of the fortunate ones, possibly a visitor, but no mess.

I need to check the manual. Do we have a cabin air filter behind the glove box?

Yes there is air filter at the glove box.

I had this happen with my Honda CRV cabin air filter. The guy at oil change was checking it snd shows me the damage ... it was not severe but enough evidence of mice eating the material.

Using bags of "Rodent repellent" from Amazon works for me
You can also install an electronic ultrasonic rodent repellent in the car (battery or 12v operated) or garage/carport.
