Wonder what would happen if you plugged the phone into the USB with a cable rather than using wireless CarPlay?
I was thing the same thing. I’ll try that as soon as I can.

I was wondering the same thing this morning. I'll try and test that this weekend.

I haven't had this happen to me yet, but I have not had that particular set of circumstances. I have a cable in the car for passengers to charge.

I am not sure its a bug but it is annoying as the system can only have one active connection and no easy way to switch.

iOS phone - I am not connected to CarPlay but audio source is something other than BT, unable to hear BT via system/speakers. And no easy way to change audio source to BT other than several screen swipes. Example - quick few mile destination mapped on my phone at home and go sit in the car - too many turns on the map - want to hear them on the speakers but audio source is set to SXM. Not easy to change to BT audio. You may ask why not connect to carplay - reason is it disconnects me from wifi and my wifi is ON by default when close to home or work and dont want to disconnect wifi (same issue if I choose to try to ATT hotspot via wifi). I do tend to use carplay as needed but choose not to turn it on by default at this time as I want to see and use Sync system.

CarPlay and Bluetooth has been a problem for a while on many audio units. I had an aftermarket Sony with CarPlay and I had to disable Bluetooth altogether to avoid conflict. Feels like both try to take control of the phone functions and turn into a mess. I saw the similar behavior in the MME. In the phone setting I see it switching back and forth between Bluetooth and carplay. Adding wireless carplay and things get even more complicated. I got to a point where I had the car play video showing up but the audio would come out from the phone.
I wish they provide an option to add the carplay without having to pair with blue tooth. After all the wireless carplay uses wifi.

I’ve never been able to get CarPlay AND Bluetooth to work simultaneously which is a drawback because the E911 feature is disabled when you use CarPlay (it uses Bluetooth to talk to the phone since it has to be connection-agnostic).

Good Evening All,

I have come across a bad, and very annoying, bug with Bluetooth and at least iOS in the Mach E.
If you are in a call when you get in the car and start the car, you can continue with your conversation, but not over Carplay, but over the Bluetooth connection to the Mach E. When you end the call, you can no longer use Carplay OR the Bluetooth connection to the Sync system. It will remain this way until you turn the car off. I tried turning off Bluetooth on my iPhone, tried disconnecting my iPhone from the Mach E via on Sync System, rebooting the phone and everything else I could think of. Only turning the car off exiting the car locking the door and then re-entering the car would resolve the issue. Or, the more radical fix, perform a reset on the Sync system and rebuild profiles, PaaK and just about everything else. I did that the first time I came across this when nothing else worked.

This has happened me me twice now.

I sure do hope Ford comes out for a fix for this soon. It is truly a pain in the ass.

Oh well, we are on the bleeding edge.
I just got this bug and it is apparently unfixable. Tried just getting out of the car and all that stuff but nothing works. Disconnected everything. Reconnecting. It just tries to play music for 8 seconds then goes back to radio

Hi - I continue to have major problems with this.

If I enter the car while on a call, the SYNC system will not pick up and connect to the phone once I start the car.

It THINKS it is - it shows on Bluetooth and Android Auto, and the SYNC system will even let me initiate calls on the phone. But then when someone picks up, the audio does not connect to the car (through either Android Auto or Bluetooth) and remains on the handset. I have tried everything and the only thing that fixes it is to pull over, turn the car off and restart.

This is a majorly inconvenient issue and happens with frequency. Would love to know how people have resolved this issue in the past.

Thanks!

Having the exact same issue, now a year+ after the last person posted. I am usually on my Samsung ear buds, then I enter the car and start it, and if the call isn't completely dropped, I end up not hearing anything via Bluetooth in the car at all - it seems to go into a black hole.

Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.
