The reality of my particular circumstances is that if this change doesn't grandfather and/or allow an upgrade to digital and keep the same membership start date, this might literally be the reason we don't purchase a Ford product. Not out of spite, but out of practicality given the parameters under which I was going to purchase.

on the X-Plan site, still showing 60-day policy. So generate now if you can.

Interesting. The pin we used is in my wife's name only. Our sales agreement was in my name and we registered the car jointly. no issues. Our x-plan qualification was from owning Ford stock, not MCA - maybe that's the difference?

And I agree with the consensus that once you have a pin, it's good even if they later change the rules. pins are typically good for 1 year.

But, PIN generation can be done on day 1. It's only enforced by dealers who would potentially ask for a membership card as proof, although apparently not all do so.

To be honest, in the past i've always used our company X-Plan. I can't recall much push back, if any, when it came to the x-plan. I think its pretty normal way of business for them.

I'm not overly concerned. Hell...if its taken them six months to start learning about Ford Options, we may have another six months before they catch on about this lol.

Good point except, based on the current state of the process, the last thing we need is even more confusion inserted surrounding another aspect of the purchase.

If your nervous about your associate membership, upgrade to digital. The savings from X-plan are worth it. Only $10 more when you sign up, not sure if you have to renew at $35 to upgrade Acct. I used my x-plan pin inside of 60-days no problem at dealership. One caution, I had the pin in my name. Had to use the second of two allowed so we could get into my wife’s name since her name and credit was used for the financing.

Well, I've emailed their manager, and I got this reply:

----
I have two questions that I was hoping you or a board member could answer:
1. Will I remain eligible for X-Plan pricing for a purchase in the next 2 weeks, even though I am an Associate Member?

No, you will need to be a Digital or Standard member in good standing for at least 90 days.

2. If not, can I upgrade to a Digital membership without resetting the 90-day "member" timeline requirement?

You can upgrade to Digital for $10.00 more without resetting the clock. I can send you an invoice for the difference that you can pay online if you wish.

I was under the impression that the PIN was the same for everyone, but it was up to dealers to validate your membership card (which not all do).

Seems like pretty easy steps to hop through in order to save quite a bit of money. Worth it to me.

Just to re-iterate to everyone:
According to MCA, You can upgrade to a Digital Membership for $10, without resetting the clock on your membership eligibility for X-Plan.

This was the information I got from:

Perfect. While it's extremely irritating for Ford to move the goalposts mid-game, at least it's manageable. Thanks for doing the legwork.

I got the email too.

I have been an associate member for well over a year. I just emailed asking about an upgrade and will be glad to do that.

What is all the talk about a pin #? I had no idea about any of that. I just thought I had to show my membership card at purchase time. I did talk about X-Plan with my dealer and was told they accept it.

If there is an additional requirement, can you please share it with me, so I can do it right now.

Thanks.

Jim

Yes, you need to generate a PIN in order to get x-plan pricing. You can do so online, here:
