I saw that, but your question didn't say that you already generated the PIN. Their answer may just apply to "moving forward". I just emailed them for clarification on PINs already generated before today.
The PIN can be generated at any time and isn't tied to your membership level.
The question of membership comes into play when the Dealer is supposed to ask for proof of your standing (that's when you show you're a Digital or Standard member for 90 days).

But the membership card doesn't say the membership level on it.

So if I've been an "Associate" member since December then my PIN won't work when my Mach E arrives in July?
NO, the MCA email said "going forward" FYI ford has not even updated xplan guidelines on line to reflect the change. Your pin is good for a year, I would go ahead and print out the pin if you haven't already done so.

on the X-Plan site, still showing 60-day policy. So generate now if you can.

PINS are good for a year, no reason not to generate one now.

That's because up until now, membership level wasn't a requirement for anything (all membership levels get the card and are eligible for X-Plan). So, I'm guessing ow that it's changed, you'll need to bring something supplemental to the dealer now if they ask for it - such as a printout of your membership status page on MCA.

Not necessarily entirely true. According to the MCA manager, you are supposed to be a digital or standard member now to use the PIN. But if you were already an associate member, you can upgrade for $10.

I think you're giving dealers too much credit. For $10, it's worth not risking it, but I doubt it's actually necessary if you've already generated a PIN. I would think that eventually, MCA will not allow PIN generation from Associate level accounts.

Probably right in most cases, but I've read of a few incidents on this forum where the dealers actually checked membership status. Some don't, though, either because they don't know or don't care.

Yeah, but even those just checked membership status by looking at the membership card (which doesn't say the level of membership).

That would involve changing the way the whole system is set up.
The PIN is generated from the Ford Partner website, not by MCA. You simply get a code number from MCA and it is the same for any member.

It doesn't let you add $10, you have to re-buy at $35 for digital. Then it seems like 90 days rule still applies if you are changing membership levels?

See @sockmeister's post:

Well, I've emailed their manager, and I got this reply:

----
I have two questions that I was hoping you or a board member could answer:
1. Will I remain eligible for X-Plan pricing for a purchase in the next 2 weeks, even though I am an Associate Member?

No, you will need to be a Digital or Standard member in good standing for at least 90 days.

2. If not, can I upgrade to a Digital membership without resetting the 90-day "member" timeline requirement?

You can upgrade to Digital for $10.00 more without resetting the clock. I can send you an invoice for the difference that you can pay online if you wish.

See my post on page 2. You have to contact them to request an invoice.

I would tend to agree, and I do want to give you the benefit of the doubt here. But just in case, I'd say it's not worth risking losing the whole X-plan ($700) over a $10 difference in membership, at least for me.

Of course. I'll be upgrading for $10, just in case. I'm just waiting to hear back from the email I sent, since that seems to be the only way to do it.
