Hi all - expecting my car [Premium AWD XR] on March 22 and I wanted to flush out the Ford Options program. Here's my email to the dealer. Did I miss anything? Thanks for this awesome forum!

"I have attached the details that I have on the Ford Options plan and just want to confirm the details.
  • Please confirm that the Z plan is available on the Ford Options plan.
  • Please confirm that the $7500 tax credit is available to me as part of the Ford Options plan.
  • Please confirm that the MD state sales tax is included in the "all-in" amount
  • I'd like payment estimates for both 35 + balloon and 47 + balloon Ford Options program (monthly payment and final balloon payment)
  • Ford Options rate is 2.25% (Announcement #: FDCI-25606 Program # 21220)
  • Ford Options Bonus Cash is $2500 (Announcement #: FDCI-25700 Program # 13896)
  • $100 ADA Customer Bonus Cash (Announcement #: FDCI-25841C Program #: 13924)"
  • Please confirm that the Z plan is available on the Ford Options plan.
    • YES it is
  • Please confirm that the $7500 tax credit is available to me as part of the Ford Options plan.
    • Options is a retail contract, you claim the tax credits on your own taxes after the fact because you are the title holder
  • I'd like payment estimates for both 35 + balloon and 47 + balloon Ford Options program (monthly payment and final balloon payment)
    • I'm assuming the dealer will know your vehicle spec details because that matters.
    • In order to get accurate quotes you'll need to define your mileage selections. How many miles per year do you want?
    • You should define how much total cash down you'll be making (total of cash, trade, rebates).

Thanks @hybrid2bev. Regarding mileage is it better to underestimate annual mileage or overestimate it?

That depends on your goals. Are you for sure turning it in? Do you mind paying extra if you go over or paying a slightly higher monthly payment to have more miles to use during the term?

You don't get a refund if you choose too many miles and come in under your allowance but you will for sure pay if you go over and return the vehicle (not trade it in or buy it out). There is only a refund on purchased extra miles but that's a whole other topic.

If you are not returning it at the end of the term (buying out or trading in) then the mileage is irrelevant: If you want a lower balloon amount (higher monthly payment) then go with higher mileage allowance or if you want a higher balloon amount (lower monthly payment) then choose a lower mileage allowance.

In my case I'm probably keeping the car so I went a little bit low on the miles to make my monthly payment lower (balloon higher). Even if I do turn it in I'll be really close on the mileage or I can always trade it in instead and then there's no mileage penalty other than a lower trade in value.

I cannot believe how uninformed these dealers are. How do they stay in business? How do they not know anything about the vehicles they're selling? I found out everything I needed to know with a quick Google search! Or are they just being lying, snake in the grass, greedy weasels?
I mean... I think you answered your own question.

When the worst part of the Mach-E is going to the dealer to pick it up, it's sad because it makes a bad first impression on the car itself.

I'm optimistic that the self-checkout online experience will eliminate all this hassle if/when it ever goes live.

Thanks again @hybrid2bev. Dealer called back and went through everything...seemed to be knowledgeable. Only thing was 13896 Ford Options Bonus Cash was quoted as $1000 not $2500. Is that correct? They provided the Step 3: Determine Eligibility page with a timestamp of an hour ago.

Options cash is either 1000 or 2500 depending on ur zip. Either way that doesn’t impact the dealer. Comes from Ford. U can “price” a new MME on the Ford site and looking at financing based on zip. It will list either 1000 or 2500

Yes, both $2500 or $1000 are valid values.

The bonus cash amount can vary based upon which marketing region you live in. Here in MI it's only $1,000 in other marketing regions it's $2,500.

Since Ford Options is only available for the Mach-E it should not be surprising that in these early days many dealers are not familiar with the program. Indeed, because we early adopters spend a great deal of time on research, we probably know more of the details than many of them. In another year it will be different. But for now, we get to have fun on the bleeding edge.

hybrid2bev wish me luck today with Ford Options. I’m at Delray Ford. I see a gray FE in the showroom. It is available! Bervens is the salesman.

Hey, do they publish what the FICO score requirements are to get approved for Tier0/1 vs Tier 2?

No and FICO is only 1 of hundreds of variables that determine the Tier. It’s not that simple.

OK I'm working on it!
Hybrid2bev, thank you thank you thank you. It took less than 30 minutes to do the paperwork. I couldn’t have done Ford Options without the help I received from you as well as other members of the forum who encouraged me along the way. Thanks again.

Not sure if this has been covered here already and if so, I apologize: Is there any benefit to submitting a credit application online instead of waiting until I’m at the dealer?

I would say no unless you think there's going to be a hiccup. They didn't even make me fill out the entire credit form. It was very fast.
