First snow boarding trip in MME FE!

Carlsbad, Ca to Big Bear, Ca was a success. Even got 2 snowboards plus gear to fit behind seats with 4 adults. A little range anxiety going up the mountain. And road was posted to require chains except for 4X4 with snow tires. But road control guy at the required stop just wanted to talk about my car and let me continue instead of telling me to pull off road and put my cables on with the 40 cars doing so. Same reaction from guy controlling parking lot at resort

Thanks, I've genuinely wondered what this color looks like dirty and salty since I live off a dirt road. Now I know I'm going to hate myself every couple of days. I'm probably going to have to get a touchless carwash pass and become a regular.

What kind of chains do you have?

I’m looking at a similar problem going up to Tahoe this weekend. I don’t have AWD though, and the weather prognosticators are prediction 1 to 2 feet of snow in 24 hours. Frankly, I’d rather just stay home, but family, Christmas, yadda, yadda.

So does anyone have advice on which kind to get? Is there something besides rattl-y chains I can use? My Volvo wagon had spike spiders which attached to the sides of the wheel.

i would not be going up into the snow except for family.
