Grahame has your dealer actually said you have lost the grant? Or is it all unclear?

I'm assuming Emma is just too busy right now keying in 600 late grant applications to reply to anyone!

Emma works in Dearborn not UK so is about 5 hours behind us.
My dealer has told me that HE didn't register my order on the portal so unless Ford did, which he doesn't think they did, then I am assuming that I will lose out unless someone somewhere comes up with a solution. My reading of the rules says that registrations received on the portal before midnight on the day before the reduction was announced will qualify under the old scheme, those received after the new one. Until I get a definitive answer I assume the worst.

In that case (stating the obvious here) Ford need to underwrite that Ā£3k cockup.

Your email to Emma is making its way through the layers of Ford. Question have you mentioned on forum others should do the same as weā€™ve been copied in another email to her? Just doing email to my boss as being questioned on what contact Iā€™ve had with you if any

I cc'd concierge into my email to Emma. I mentioned that the only form of communication i had ever received was from Rebecca and Hanna. Might be my email she is referring to here!

I'm sure I read something about 28 days last week but it was clear as mud whether that 28 days was just for orders taking during the previous 28 days prior to the gov announcement or not.

Eg an order placed in 2020 is not within 28 days but an order in feb would be.

Yes I read that last week as we had to have our orders in at least 28 days before the announcement. The article in the car dealer magazine is only dated yesterday so hoping its correct as the understanding of the change has been analysed ?. Come on Ford put us out of our misery this is easy to answer ?

Yes, this was in the text of a stakeholder letter from DfT that I posted last week - copied below for reference:

The new terms apply from 07:00 today (Thursday 18 March 2021). Changes to the
grant are commercially sensitive for the Government. Providing even a very short
notice period ahead of the grant rates in March 2020 led to a very large spike in
orders in the seven hours between the announcement and changes coming into
effect at midnight. A similar spike would not be affordable within current budgets.
Government has a responsibility to manage the grant budget and to deliver value for
money for taxpayers and has therefore been unable to provide notice ahead of the
grant changes.

We are allowing dealers or vehicle manufacturers to claim for any orders that

were placed by customers in the 28 days before the grant rate change which
were not logged on the portal.

Begs the question about orders placed by customers more than 28 days before the grant changed, but not logged on the portal (potentially including many orders here if between Ford and the dealers this hasn't happened).

I think they will sat at their calculators number crunching seeing which way out of this situation is going to be the cheapest for them. There might have been 600 vehicles on the GH and IMM but I imagine some of those are cancelled orders. There is at least one from my dealer. There are also the confirmed signed orders that haven't been made yet to take into account. Whichever way you look at it, this is going to be a costly mistake for Ford

That answers that question then ?

You would hope that Ford would not allow a scenario to develop in which someone who placed an order on 17 March could get the grant but an order ā€˜confirmedā€™ in December would miss out.

That would seem a pretty perverse situation to be in but I suppose would be par for the course based on this whole experience with Ford and the dealers. UK government involvement only worsens these things!
