Hello hive-mind.
I want to paint my calipers. But that means I have to remove them. Looking at the owners manual it says even servicing brake fluid requires special tools available at the dealer. Beyond that, the thing automatically engages the electric parking brake and I don’t know how to disengage that. Anyone pulled the brakes yet and have the knowledge that I lack?

Or does anyone have a repair manual for these things?

It is fairly complicated. Prior to removing the calipers, the vehicle has to be put into Brake Service Mode. Prior to doing that, you need to clear the EPB and EBB related DTCs. Then connect the IDS (or other suitable scan tool) to deactivate the EPB and EBB systems while following the prompts on the IDS.

Then there is a process in the car that has to be followed to confirm.

Do your work.

Then to bleed the system you have to use the scan tool and follow that process.

Or use caliper covers. Someone will have them soon. Anyone reading in the San Diego County area? MGB Caliper Covers may have a deal for you.

For the front brakes only, can't they simply be removed the traditional way, painted, and then put back on the car before it's ever turned on?

FWIW I turned wrenches at dealerships for 20 years and I wouldn't do it if I didn't have access to a scan tool.
YMMV.

I am a complete amateur, why not paint them on the car...what you see is what you get?

Thanks everyone for the answers and thoughts.
I first wanted to get the calipers completely off and prep them well before spraying them. I don’t want to do this on the vehicle as I don’t want to paint any of the wires, brake lines, rake pads, rotors, or worry about overspray on my paint. I know I can mask all that stuff, but I still worry about missing something.
If electric bleeding is required, maybe that’s a bit too much for me. I do not have access to FordScan. So if I can at least get the brakes into service mode I can pull the calipers but not disconnect the lines and brush paint them I found some nice brush on caliper paint kits that lookquite nice when done. I think I’ll go that route once I make sure I can get into service mode.
If even service mode is unattainable, then I’ll mask everything and brush paint them inplace, but that is my least desired option.

Boy, after seeing this I may just pay someone to do that. Paint the calipers and wrap the black fender flares Rapid Red, all in one go.

I would do that, but there isn’t anyone in my area that specializes in that. Living rural means I’m missing some non vital services. Sure, there’s that one guy my wife’s 2nd cousin knows. But... No thank you.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust this to just anyone.
