You think 1W would do it? Or even less? Looks like you can get them down to 1/4W.
Give me a minute. I’m going to dry and baffle mine now. I’ll get a wattage.

Sorry @generaltso My multimeter wont give me a reading. I may not be a talented enough electrician. Or I may not have enough hands to hold the probes in connection and the multimeter. Or my multimeter may not be fancy enough to read low enough. Or the car may end the electricity when it senses the disconnect. But no matter what the cause, I have failed you. I do have a part number that maybe we can cross reference and see if the speaker wattage is listed anywhere.

Oh well, thanks for trying! I'm thinking something like this might work. How big were the contact slots in the plug?

Getting a wattage rating of a speaker using a DMM isn't exactly possible (not due to a lack of skills). You'd need to either: find the speaker's power rating from its datasheet, find the MME's amplifier output power that drives the speaker (assuming it's not built into the speaker module), or you'd need to measure the current driving the speaker when in use (power = current ^2 x resistance). One additional caveat is that a speaker works in AC not DC, so what you'd need is the speaker impedance (AC equivalent of resistance) which is frequency dependent (I said it was complicated).

That being said, it's probably more than 1 W. You might need a power resistor, or a larger resistance (depending on how the MME determines the speaker is missing)... or leave it be.

Those would probably work. The speaker can be removed from the housing. I’d cut the wire here and put the resistor in at this point. Could always reattach them later if needed.
Looks like you don't even have to cut the wire, are those connectors inside the housing soldered on?

Okay, I tried a resistor and it works as expected.

Disclaimer: The following information is for proof-of-concept purposes only. I do not recommend or endorse disabling any safety feature in this or any other vehicle. Do not operate your MME on public roads with the pedestrian warning sound disabled.

I was going to try some different resistors to see what would work. The first one I tried was a 5W 4.7 ohm, and it worked fine, so I didn't try any others. The connectors for the speaker wire slide right off the posts, and the resistor wire can be threaded through the holes in the posts, wrapped around, and crimped with pliers. I drove around for a bit (on a private closed course) in silence and then felt the resistor to make sure it remained cool to the touch, which it did.

@generaltso Where did you get your resistor? Did it come in a multipack?
