just got me to remember something else. more than once my salesperson was like "yeah you know more than I do, probably because of those forums you're on" (very early on I told him about this site).
My sales guy knew better than to even try to tell me anything about the car. When we went out to put the license plate on it, he asked if I wanted to go over anything, and I said no. That was the extent of the sales guy's involvement with the car. I can't imagine what would have happened if I asked him to show me how to setup PaaK.

to be completely fair to my salesguy he did get out the (photocopied) "set up your Mach-E" pamphlet and try to go through it as best he could so I have to give them credit for at least knowing that thing existed and trying.

That sounds painful. I think I much prefer them not even trying.

Did you set the FordPass app to not optimize battery (i.e., keep it alive in the background all the time) or not? Based on what I've seen, there's a balance between it being reliable in non-optomized mode, but then it chews up battery... or needing to have the app opened recently.
Does that setting affect foreground services like PaaK? Once you set it up, it launches a perpetual notification (which you can minimize or hide in Android settings). I think this is preventing phone from fully sleeping (doze mode). I'm not an android developer so could be wrong.

It isn't kind to my Pixel 4's battery, that's I know for sure.

If there's a persistent notification, that is the only way I know of for an Android app to keep the OS from automatically killing it. The alternative is that you can manually add it to the "do not kill list" (actually referred to as the "optimize battery usage" list). Either one can potentially drain the battery based on what the app is actually doing.

Great summary. Yep, the "not a Mustang" crowd can kiss my ass too. They will be seeing you from their windshield when the stoplight turns green. Actually though, most Mustang owners have given me the thumbs up.
I gotta say that after traveling from San Jose, CA to the Chandler, AZ area and staying a week, then traveling back, quite a few current mustang owners stopped me to talk about my car. Not one showed disdain for the car. They all showed some kind of admiration for it. In addition, I ran into some testers from the VW group. I saw the current ID 4 that's now out but still being tested for updates, next year's ID 4, the prototype ID 4 that's now out, and the prototype Audi, still in camo, all charging at an EA site in Arizona. All of those drivers except the guy driving the camo Audi were excited to see my MME. I was excited to see the ID 4s. Not so much the Audi. Also ran into 3 different Porsche Taycan drivers. They were excited to see my MME. Fact is, this is a great time to be looking at all of the different options now out or soon to be out from various automakers. It's no longer just about Tesla. And I think most people are just beginning to wake up to the fact that EVs are a viable option for a lot of the car buying public. Performance. Style. Comfort. Tech. Handling. There's something for everyone.

Do you know if it prevents the phone from entering doze mode?

One note...you get a lot of your life back after taking delivery and not spending days refreshing or checking this forum for updates endlessly.

I feel like I've gained about 200 hrs back in my week!

I give some of the other manufacturers a lot of crap (all deserved ;)) but in general yeah, the EV market is changing very quickly and becoming super interesting in a way that is great to see.

some of the #NotAMustang folks just can't get their head around it but that's fine... not everyone could get their head around cars over horses (the animal kind not the Ford brand kind ;)) either.

two more things I noticed last night and today that I don't know if anyone has called out yet... first, these little LEDs that make the top controls much easier to see without being distracting:

Ford Mustang Mach-E hey, I have a car! 20210330_192445

and today, if you're in Accessory mode, which you can do because you have a Start button, the display emphasizes percent over miles, which makes sense since miles isn't as relevant when you're not actually driving at the moment....
