I believe the 150 rate lasts ~3 minutes.

Three minutes at 150, 90 seconds fiddling with restarting for 3 more VS. 3 @ 150 & 4.5 @ 100

900 vs 900

Restarting the connection would need to reliably take less than 90 seconds for it to begin to make sense.
I am curious if anyone has intentionally tried stopping/restarting their session when it's hit the ~78kW plateau.

@ChasingCoral ?

Excellent point. Imagine the feeling of being on the road, traveling. If you wanted to get that full 100% to feel safer (while traveling with range anxiety) I wonder how long you would need to wait.
I can tell you because I've done it basically from 80% - 100% takes you a little over 2 hours!

As someone who lives in a condo with no place to plug in overnight I typically visit a local 50kw charge point station when I'm around 50% - 60% and I top up to 80% and that takes me about 30 - 40 min.

However last weekend I wanted to do a family road trip to stretch my MME's legs a bit and get a real world feel for how far I could go, so I charged up to 100%. Let me tell you, adding that final 20% from 80% to 100% was by far my most expensive charge, as well as the longest charge session!

That day I plugged in at 65% and quickly got to 80% in under 30 min, but about 2 hours later I finally reached 100%, boy was that painful lol!

What's funny is that even the Chargepoint charger was alerting me via the app that my charge session was complete at around 95% and that my vehicle was pulling so little power that I should disconnect. Lol

Luckily this not something that I'll need to do often, but I just wanted to see what that final 20% would look like, and right now it's just kind of silly that they basically drop you down to level 2 charging after 80%.

If it is any consolation, rest assured daddy Ford wants you to enjoy a long battery life.
And even better (for Ford) will likely not have too many battery warranty claims at 100,000 miles.
Now doesn't that make you feel better?

Who said they are not working on it. Audi Jaguar all had major problems when they first launched fast charging. Tesla also.
Ford will get it fixed as soon as they can. Dude go eat snickers.

When my sister got her model Y. One of the first shipments it had problems with the handshake.

Problem is some people are eating too many snickers while waiting to charge.

For those of us who have an Electrify America Pass (I have one for my Bolt), can I use my phone to fast charge the Mach E if Ford Pass is clunky or the charger doesn't recognize the Mustang? Heading to Louisiana for a day trip, and need a fast charge to 80% before heading back to Texas. And has anyone gotten anything close to 150kws from EA stations?
I got around 134kw for the first 40% of my charge the other day. It ended up tapering off to around 80kW until it hit 80%, then I stopped and continued my trip.

most EV's drop of at 80% Ford is pretty dramatic though. Tesla will stop charging at 80% when charging at a super charger. You can tell it to continue to charge but does slow down. usually 80% more than enough to get to next charger. it is easier to make more quick stops than sitting and waiting for the last 20%. But they do need to work when i plug in. Dont want to spend 20 min trying to get a 10 min charge started.

In a day trip to Louisiana, just charged to 70% in only 32 minutes, which was enough to return to Houston.

Just had my first ever DC charge experience, and it was awesome lol

After having an Energi for 5 years and having it take about 2.25 hours to get 23 miles, and then my experience yesterday charging my Mach E at a standard Chargepoint for 5 hours and only going from 20% to 56%, this is a revelation ?

At 50kw I got from 20% to 75% in 62 minutes, before being told by someone that the spot was only for Cruise charging (was wondering why it was free lolol). I knew in my head it was fast, but just seeing it in action really helps alleviate any concern about not being able to home charge ?
@Ma9573 That's hilarious! Where were you plugging in? I see the Cruise Bolts on the streets around me in Sunset. I read they're building a big charging center in Dogpatch, though not holding my breath on free charging for all ?

Still, as another city resident without home charging, good to hear your experience was a good one!

It's in Embarcadero 3's garage. Literally about 25-30 Cruise charging stations.

Not sure if you've seen my other post, but I was able to get free charging at the EA station in the Safeway parking lot on Webster today. Apparently they are doing some upgrades and the payment system isn't working, but the charger is. Only worked at 60kw, but honestly I'm still amazed at anything over 10kw lol

I actually inquired about adding 1 or 2 level 2 stations for tenants and guests. A load test was done to show it would be feasible since we are in the midst of a parking lot expansion study, and it was eventually put to a vote where the biard decided they would not move forward with using reserve funds for such a project. Instead EV charging would be at owners expense which would be an estimated $10k plus cost of power.

Bottom line I laughed and it's a non issue for me anyway since I plan to buy a home by year end anyway.
