When exiting the car, and closing the drivers door (with FOB), does anyone else experience a rather long delay for when the "touch to lock" area of the door, below the lock code, takes a while to respond and lock?

My rear door locks almost right away, but the front has a long delay where you get no response for a while, and have to keep touching the spot over and over till it finbally kicks in and locks.. I'm trying to see if it's just mine.

I sometimes have that delay when using PaaK. But if I have the fob, it always seems to lock right way. I assumed it was just part of the PaaK flakiness.

mine is with FOB right there. Once it locks, if you touch it, the light blinks every time, so it's not a bad button, it's some software glitch.

It's not a fix, but as a workaround, if it doesn't lock right away, you can hit the bottom two combination number buttons simultaneously and it will lock. This doesn't require a key at all, so that should always work.

The bottom two numbers are a bit more responsive, but not great either. A simple thing like this can really be a pain. You get out and want to walk away, and then have to pause while your car catches up. No other car I have ever owned has had this problem. I've taken to just walking away and letting it lock on it's own, but there's that dumb horn blast...

You can turn that off.
Not if you walk away from the car without locking. I have not found any way to turn that off. Be happy if someone figured that setting out, but I have turned the warning chirp sound off, and still get that.

Sure you can. Just turn off Audible Feedback under Walk-Away Lock.

Why don't we just get into the running car, no let's hide behind the chain saws :p. Seriously you know you can just hit the lock button on the door and all doors lock when there shut, easy peasy.

uhh... that is the whole point of my thread. My lock button doesn't work right. Standing in front of your door hitting the lock button for 20 seconds before it locks isn't easy anything. It's broken.

From day one that spot has been problematic for me. So much so that I stopped using it completely. It is much quicker to press the keypad numbers to force lock the car. For those that aren't aware.....press and hold the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time and it will lock the car.

Be careful though. If you leave your fob or PaaK in the car then you can lock yourself out and will need the code to re-enter.

So to be clear......there are 4 basic ways to lock the vehicle.
  1. Enable walk away feature (fob or PaaK)
  2. Touch the little lock icon near the door popper button
  3. Touch the lock on the interior door panel after the door is opened but before it is closed again.
  4. Press and hold the two bottom buttons on the keypad after the doors are closed.

The first 1 won't function if you leave your fob or phone in the car.
The last 2 will function if you leave your fob or phone in the car.

I hope this helps.
