Has anyone received status emails from Ford who are currently waiting on a build date? If so, how long did it take for you receive an email with ANY information after your order date. I ordered on March 6 and I realize people have waited several months to receive build dates, I get that, but the lack of any type of acknowledgement makes me question the process. I'm trying to be patient but it's pretty irritating not to receive any information or post order acknowledgement at all.

Ordered on Feb 23rd and still no build date and no updates as to possible timeline. Even dealership says the regional rep is not able provide any timeline for build dates. I suspect delays have to do with a few factors. First year build, first BEV, Covid, and now semiconductor shortage.

Thanks - I wasn't aware of a semi-conductor shortage . are there post in the forum related to that? I'm a pretty reasonable person and understand that all those things you mentioned makes sense as to delays in providing build dates. I guess what I am more annoyed about is that it seems very unprofessional for Ford not to communicate this (or anything) to the people who are trying to give them money. Starts the relationship of with a negative customer experience .

I would be surprised if you get a build date before summer holiday season...a dealerlot car is a better guess...most if not all MME's for 2021 will be sold already.

You'll likely to get even more annoyed as time goes on in that case. There are lots of people who have had a reservation/order for the best part of18 months and during that time we have almost ZERO communications from Ford regarding manufacturing/transporting/delivery. Most of the information we have got hold of has been through various posters on this forum.

Welcome to the club. I’m in the 12th week of Ford information blackout. There are some a lot worse off than us.

Exactly. I’m much more annoyed by the lack of information than the delays.

I can see how a chip shortage would stop production but not how it would slow it down. They either have the parts to build the cars or they don’t.

I’ve asked the same questions of the same people and received the same answer.

Think about it this way. If you're only missing 1 part, you have 99.9% of what you need to build a car. In that case, what's more economical, to shut the factory down completely, or build incomplete vehicles, park them, then install parts after the fact when you get them?

Obviously it depends on the part and how easy or difficult that repair process would be, along with how long you expect the part shortage to last. There's not a one-size-fits-all answer, and it's something the entire auto industry (and lots of other industries too) are grappling with.

Unfortunately , automotive manufacturers have always believed "No news Is good news"
It takes a lot of resources for them to keep everyone up to date and even more to fix there
mistakes or missed time lines. It is easier and less brain damage to piss a few people off and let it happen when it happens. I Have a order from 2-6-21 no production date. They treating me like a MUSHROOM !!!
IF there was a true parts shortage. Plants would be shut down, They my be slow to get but they are still coming.

Hopefully ford realizes this is an area where simple improvements can make a world of difference. When you put a deposit down, the following SHOULD happen:

1. Immediate email confirmation and build date queue number, similar to the waiting list for season tickets for professional teams. This number should update every day based on cars that have been given build date. This way, if things "slow down", you can see that because your number doesn't drop by much in the past day/week. It's better than not knowing anything at all.

2. Once you get your build date and VIN, there should be some type of tracker included in the physical car that can report on a series of steps that the car will go through prior to completion. You should be able to see if it is on the line or in the body shop, etc. Every station would scan the tracker upon completion.

3. Once the car hits the yard for shipping, it should be attached to GPS for location monitoring.

If you remove the gray area, you remove the ambiguity that pisses people off. Most people will never access the tracker, and that's fine.
I also think most people are reasonable and wouldn't flip out if things aren't going fast enough. But information makes you feel like you're included in the process.

Item 2.

You already can. Scan back a few thousand posts and you will find out how.

Is that supposition or do you have access to solid information?
If the latter then thank you. That’s the kind of information I’ve been seeking.
