SSM 49730 - 2021 Mustang Mach-E - April 9, 2021 - Phone As A Key Concerns Of Bluetooth Disconnected, UnableTo Start, Backup Code Needed And/Or Key Not Detected

Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles may exhibit phone as a key concerns of Bluetooth disconnected, unable to start, backup code needed and/or key not detected. This may be due to the software configuration in the remote function actuator module (RFA). To correct the condition, reprogram the RFA module using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 14G617 and M-time.

For anyone who wants PAAK to work better apparently this will help...though I'm not sure how much!

What I don't get is why these aren't being done OTA? We have at least 5 modules that have updates that fix major bugs yet they aren't pushing them OTA. I guess they aren't ready yet. The first OTA update just updated the GWM which is the module that controls all OTA updates.
I too have experienced this problem. I've cut & pasted this post in an email to my Ford service coordinator about getting it fixed. While I'm waiting for the 2nd part to fix the rear driver door elatch that doesn't fully open the door.

I contacted my dealer yesterday about this SSM. He couldn't find any info on it. I'm going to check back later next week. I'll have my 2nd key fob programmed at the same time.

Tell your service advisor to learn how to do his job. If you give him your VIN he can put it into OASIS and see the SSM if the goes to the TSB/SSM/GSB list. Super simple and I don't even work for Ford. Even the salesman can look this up.

The way I find these SSMs is by doing exactly what your dealer would do to find it. He doesn't even need your VIN, he can just select 2021 Mustang Mach E in PTS.

I don't know about that. since day 1, PAAK has been perfect for me (over a month). First time I use the car after OTA, no longer functions. Pretty sure it's directly related. I reported to Ford.
where, how, and to whom did you report the issue?
I am hoping there is a KnowledgeBase somewhere of known open issues, and then maybe some meaningful OTAs with detailed 'release notes' attached ?

This is the sort of thing PERFECT for OTA, or at least a push notification from Ford via email if it cannot be done OTA since we all have ford.com accounts with FordPass and Ford has our emails.....

I don't really trust my Dealer to be looking out of me in terms of 'Hey Dan would really like this update I bet since he's giving us such a hard time about PAAK'.

why would they care? what's in it for them? It's never been part of their business in the past unless it was a major Warranty/Safety/Recall

Ford is going to have to work out some issues with Dealerships to inspire new ways for them to make money; probably doing Updates/fixes that cannot be done OTA because they require physical parts. I would HOPE lots of what we are seeing can be fixed OTA.....

Hmm What I noticed is for some time the Bluetooth (BT) was disconnected and would not reconnect. I noticed this for both the "Mach-E" BT connection and the "09333 MACH-E" BT connection. Took several attempts to get either to connect but once they did all was well.

I am having this problem. I have only had my MME for 4 days now. Put key in a Faraday bag and tried PAAK and it was an epic fail. Backup code works like a charm though ;) I am due back to the dealer to get my Ford front and rear dashcams, ceramic coating and wheel locks installed so I'll have them do the reprogram then too.

I have the opposite problem in that PaaK generally works well, but my Backup Code somehow is non-functional and the only way I'm aware of to fix it is to remove PaaK from both of the phones that have been setup..

It never asks or it doesn't take it?

You might have to hit Start a few times to get it to ask apparently based on other posts on the site.
