It's absolutely bananas that it's a 100% or 0% for battery heating. No sharing with the cabin, just sit in the cold and heat the battery, or sit in the warm cabin and leave the battery frozen. At least it's warmer now, but it was frustrating sitting in the cold car to speed up charging all winter.

This needs to be OTA'ed by next winter or there's gonna be a lot more unhappy customers.

I usually don't sit in the car while charging.

Where do you get that? They are just making recommendations for achieving the most accurate range estimates.

I complained about the range to my local dealer. And he talked to one of the engineers that designed the car. And that was his response back

Where did you get that information? The only source I remember seeing was one of Bjorn's videos, but I don't think he said that it was all or nothing. He just said that if you're using E-Heat in the cabin while charging, it will take longer to heat the battery. That makes sense, but doesn't imply that no heating of the battery happens when using E-Heat.

But is would be nice to come back to a warm car after charging and also to take advantage of being plugged in and not having to use the battery later to condition the cabin.

Sure. That is absolutely an option.

I highly doubt engineers will be allowed to write such letters. This is typical response from customer relations department with generic advice.
I reset EV history in my SR when I picked up the car. It does not go back to best prediction (230 miles) but was about 170miles on 100% charge.

Btw, why do you need to setup a schedule in order to precondition the battery? Can we just press a button in the app when we are ready to leave in 10-20 minutes? When I open the ford app, I wan to cry :)

I think you are correct. From what I understand....the PTC heater was sized appropriately to heat the cabin or the battery but might struggle to do both. So, when it's very very cold out and you want to DCFC then letting the E-Heat warm the battery and use the seat heaters for the front passengers (if waiting in the car) might help the battery warm up faster.

I have no reasonable way to test this in my climate though..... :)

+1 Definitely should be a Precondition button in the app. Even if there isn't time for the process to complete at least you'll be somewhat ahead of the game as compared to just firing it up and taking off.

The departure schedule pre-conditions the cabin.
The battery temp is managed separately by the car provided it is plugged in while parked.
