So I've had my MME for all of 3 days, so I understand a solid 5-7% of this thing so far. But in the few days I've had it, I've noticed a few oddities. Nothing alarming, but wondering if it's me or the vehicle.

First was that I had a pre-collision alert pop up randomly. Story time: I was entering the freeway and had to accelerate hard to get in front of a vehicle in my merging lane. I probably (read absolutely did) accelerated harder than I needed to. It was raining lightly at the time. After getting up to speed the pre-collision alert came on for about 10 seconds. The vehicle did not take any evasive or preventative measures, so it seems like it was just an alert. But it was enough to pucker the back door. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it possible the rain was a factor?

The other thing I've had was a few times where my settings on the infotainment screen have changed. Occasionally it changes my Sirius back to just the default Sirius channel instead of the last channel it was on. I've seen this a few times on the forum, and it's really no big deal since I just tap on my preset.

Then today, my temp control randomly was switched to full heat full blast. When I got back in the car after curling heading home it was blasting heat at the highest setting. Now I can neither confirm nor deny, but a Tesla Model S owner friend of mine did drive my MME to lunch. So maybe Tesla fanboi sabotage? Or has anyone else seen this with the climate control?

Other than that, and even these issues aren't deal breakers, I am tickled pink at this car. It is quicker than a hiccup and just a joy to drive. A colleague at work drove it over lunch on Friday and now he is scouring dealers looking for his own. I think that tells you the possibilities of this machine.

1 Precollision alert: were you gaining on anyone in front of you as you accelerated to merge? Was there anyone in the next lane to the left as you moved leftward? The precollsion alert is a bit sensitive, not that I mind. I get it when someone is turning left in front of me and I don’t slow down enough for the car, because I know they’re in the process of getting out of my way.
2. Sirius seems to be super glitchy. Glad I don’t use it.
3. Did you remote start the car by chance? Was it trying to prewarm for you? Do you have remote start to auto for cabin temp? Or to resume last settings? If you weren’t remote starting, I have to say it resumed on whatever it was previously set to.Maybe your friend was being thoughtful and figured you’d be cold after curling.

I experienced the same thing with the pre-collision alert randomly going on. Just once though

1. I don't think I was gaining on anyone, or at least anything within 100 yards that would set off the pre-collision alert. Nobody to the left of me to my recollection. I made the same drive today and did the same thing with no rain and no alert. As long as it doesn't physically do anything ie slam the brakes I can handle the occasional heart attack.
2. Yes Sirius does seem glitchy
3. No remote start (at least not intentionally). I haven't set any temp settings other than using the climate control temp settings. I am leaning toward your last suggestion of my "friend" helping me warm up after curling. Damn Tesla boys. I'll check with him tomorrow and pull out his fingernails until I get the answers I need.

I had the heat full blast happen to me on Sunday, as well as the settings resetting. I recently received the OTA update so wonder if the settings reset was related to that. For the heat blast, I was driving in rainy conditions and my windshield and side windows were getting foggy - wonder if that was the cause of the heat turning on by itself?

I don't think they've correctly calibrated the software for the pre collision alert. The IPMA deals with that now and before it was just the CCM making the decisions (radar). If it ran for 10 seconds and didn't do anything then it sounds like it was just confused. If your adaptive cruise control works correctly then I think its just the software being glitchy still.

As to the settings changing that is a known bug and will be addressed an an OTA update by the end of May Ford says.

As to the heater I've never had the HVAC do any weird things, just settings not getting saved for the radio, etc.

So I had the pre collision alert happen again yesterday. I was driving through a housing addition and a car was turning right in front of me (on the same road I was on in the same direction of travel). I could see they had already started their turn and would be clear of the road by the time I passed. So I did not slow down or let off the go petal. It chimed and flashed the warning for a few seconds and then went away again.

I think it might just be misinterpreting what it is seeing and erring on the side of caution. This instance I could actually understand what it was interpreting I think. No harm no foul.

I do not slow down either when I can plainly see that the car will be gone by the time I get to where it is turning. I get a precollision alert Every time. ... in both my cars, neither are a MME. I also get an alert when I pass certain places every time I drive past.

I've had pre-collision happen twice. First was a decent use of it, last week someone pulled out in front of me and it activated and actually pressed the brakes hard itself. It was about 5:50AM and dark out and they had no lights on. I would've stopped myself, but glad it seemed to work in that instance (though the hard braking did send my backpack in the passenger seat flying...). I had quite a few words and gestures to that driver....

Second was in the drive through at Sonic this weekend, which was definitely where it was too sensitive. Just casually pulling up to the car in front of me and it flashed at me, no beeps or braking though.

As for settings - the only settings that don't "stick" for me are Auto Ambient light selection, so not a huge deal. I use CarPlay though, so no experience with Sirius. I also have realized that if I remote start the car, it doesn't auto load my profile when I get in. I have to press 1 on the door to make it load. That does have the added benefit of loading my ambient light selections though (which I think you can force even if it does "preload" your profile. You can just select another profile and then go back to yours on the door and it'll load all the settings correctly).

Yup this happens. The car can only see “there’s something in front of me and I’m moving towards it fast without braking”. So it sounds the alarm. In all of my various vehicles the situation you described sets off the collision warning without fail every time.

I've had 1 random collision alert, radio station changed once and seat and steering wheel heat come on once when I started the car and once when I remote started car through ford pass.

I've had 3 collision alerts:
2 times on the SAME road 2 weeks apart for no apparent reason.
1 time on the highway when a car was dead in front of us in the middle of the lane and it did what it was supposed to do.

Mine is set on "high" which is the default setting. I'd rather leave it on high and hope the bugs will get worked out.

I've had the pre-collision alert pop up probably half a dozen times. A couple were at stop signs where an autonomous Cruise vehicle took longer to move than us normal Californians, and I crept a little closer to it.

The feature definitely takes into account the speed to distance ratio, which I actually appreciate. One time was on the freeway where the traffic stopped suddenly from about 50mph. The alert chimed when I was a good 100 feet away from the car in front of me. I'd already seen the stoppage ahead, but if I'd been distracted the alert would've definitely been extremely helpful avoiding a collision.

My only complaint is that the damn thing's sound is pretty obnoxious, but I guess that's the point ?

My collision alert goes off and it prompts the wife to comment " I like this car, it agrees with me you drive like an asshole."

Monday morning my center screen was white, no apparent reason as bot profile in the car have it dark.

My pre-collision alert has also alerted for no reason, four times. Three of those times were before it was in the shop for 23 days, as in cold temps the pre-collision alert, parking aid, and blind spot warning, would malfunction. They finally received the part to fix that, then, over the course of three days drove my car over 80 miles trying to get the pre-collision alert to happen. Of course, after I got my car back, and having driven it only 15 miles, it happened.
