I have a v1 gen1. With the suction cup clip it is NOT positioned in the black dots area bc of the headliner. I don’t have a solution.
This is the best I could do and it seems (so far) to greatly improve performance. I am actually getting front alerts now! The tilt towards the back is only slight. So it's still pretty level. This is using the Gen 2 stock suction cup mount. I think that permanent mount adapter I linked above will work and I will probably order it. The suction cups seem to be holding nice and strong but I just don't trust them in extreme temps, cold or hot.

Lesson Learned - Blend Mounts are useless on this car. Going to try to return mine. The good news is that higher is better when mounting a radar detector. So as long as there is enough clearance in the black knockout area for the front facing sensor, this is a better spot anyway. The first attempt I made at this mounting spot, not enough of the front sensor was inside the black. It was level though. Second attempt is pictured below and it seems to make a big difference so far.

Thx for updating. I’ll try that.

Working today on the placement. I had to turn laser detection off. Something in the car for sure. Same for you?

I haven't had any laser false alerts. However, I get a Ka false every time I pull into my garage and sit for a second or 2. The frequency is different each time so the GPS lockout/mute doesn't help. Not sure if it's a sensor on the car reflecting/bouncing around inside my garage or what. Annoying but otherwise, I think performance has been much better in the new mounting location. It's not perfect but the only other alternative is a custom installed RD and $$$$$$.......

While I'm here - I received that permanent mount adapter the other day. For now, the suction cups are holding strong, so I am going to leave it alone while I continue to monitor performance. However, the mount adapter seems pretty well made and should be perfect for a more permanent install later.

Maybe the laser is only pinging in my garage. I’ll try a few settings. Otherwise, yeah, seems to be working in that position for me too. I don’t get any odd Ka alerts.

nicely done!
too bad Ford didn't build in a pre-wired plug for radar detectors.... I'm finding that 90mph comes up way too easy. ;)
I'm sure Lawyers probably have a say about any aux power port, dash cam etc...... I've been dreaming about aux power ports for years.

Try positioning the detector below the mirror not above.

Anyone tried installing laser jammers? Hard to get the front heads installed with no true grill openings.

F9 it is 5A.

Note that this power turns off immediately when you turn the car off and open the door. If you want power that stays on the accessory delay circuit tap into the lighting circuit in the overhead console. Depending on settings that will stay on for ~10 minutes after you leave the car.

Here's the car side of the connector that goes to the mirror.

Do you think this would work for a hard wired dash cam as well? Id love for my dash cam to stay powered on an additional 10 minutes.

Yes the lighting circuit will work for a dash cam.

Is it possible to flip the blendmount over and mount the detector upside down. Sure it will look funny, but you might get it level.

I decided to venture and do this without any help or wiring
. . . . .

Dude, you rock. This tool me like 20 minutes (most of which was disconnecting the white plug thing holding the wiring harness). Super easy. So glad I did this!

No - that terminal loses power when the vehicle is off.

Someone mentioned somewhere in this thread about another terminal that has constant power. I did not look into it since I don't want it to stay on.

I take that back, I'm definitely noticing some impairment.
Thx for this.
Couple Questions.
1) Where did you get the mirror tap? Amazon
2) Have you found a more optimal location or is it the very top next to the mirror?
