It might be time that Ford should hand this app off to a new team. The new team could be given a description of the intended features, a list of the ones believed to work correctly, and ask them to either fix or replace the app. The current team seems to be struggling. Fix Or Replace Dammit (FORD). At the moment, the app kind of reminds me of my 1957 Fix Or Repair Daily Ford.
Agreed. All we can do is document and hope someone is paying attention to this. We are beta testing their half baked app.

I love my Mach-E but Ford really should be embarrassed about the app. So far, I have mostly dealt with the situation by assuming the app will not work or by pretending the app does not even exist. That makes my life calmer and lets me just enjoy the car. But, when there is an app update and I take a look to see if they have made anything better, I am reminded why it is a good idea to just ignore the app until they fix it or replace it.

Sadly charge management remains a horribly broken disaster of a mess in the most recent iOS release.

First, it took me a couple forced closes and restarts to even get my plug in status on the home page.

When you click on “Details” you get this....

Note all the broken missing information. When you tap on Charge to 100% you just get a grey bar with a spinner for a few minutes until you get this.....

Sorry, FordPass isn’t responding.... haven’t seen that at least 100x before.

When I go to Vehicle > Manage EV > Manage Charging to change my preferred charge window and max charge, it take several minutes of “Loading.”

Did it work? Nope. When I go into the car to check the charge profile there, nothing has been changed.

Question: Do you think Ford knows all of this key functionality is still hopelessly broken?
Is there a developer contact e-mail address on the App Store? Did you leave a review/rating? That sometimes gets results with other apps.

Agree, except when the lack of effective charge management actually causes me more stress. Here is an example: Today Im headed to a soccer tournament a little ways away. I can make it there and back on one charge IF I charge up to 100% the night before. So I plug in, double check my charge schedule and max charge (in car, because the app doesn’t work for crap), confirm that the car starts charging when it is supposed to, and head to bed.

This morning I wake up early and open the app just to make sure the car is at 100%. I don’t want to leave the warmth of my bed. I just want to see 100%.

It tells me I’m at 56% and was last updated 8hrs ago. Ok, keep calm, that’s “normal.” Then I see a blue bar on the bottom of home page that says “unplugged.” What?! I click on this bar and I get this message:

Ford Mustang Mach-E FordPass 3.20.0 released for Android (3.20.1 out with bug fixes on 04/20) 29A264E4-6A08-42BE-8EAC-BFCD55216226

Ok.... so I try to remote start the vehicle to get it update. Here is what I get:

Ford Mustang Mach-E FordPass 3.20.0 released for Android (3.20.1 out with bug fixes on 04/20) 5DDDCD3D-A65B-4948-B206-73E8BC21E433

So I get out of bed and check the car. And it DID charge to 100%. But why is that app so crappy?! This causes me stress!!

App is clearly more responsive. When I switch from one car to the other, it crashes. I did force stop and clear cache with no change.

wow. thank god the app team had nothing to do with making the car...

Yeah, Ford underappreciated how critical a solid software team is for BEVs

App Store support link just takes you to Ford.com. Leaving a review among the 5,000 others is pointless. People forget that FordPass isn’t designed for the Mach E. The vast majority of people using and reviewing FordPass are driving ICE. All this EV “functionality” has just been grafted onto FP and that’s probably one reason why it’s so broke.

?? maybe they read the 1 star reviews. ?

Edit: They replied to a one star review in the Google Play store from an MME owner with the 800 number for the Guides team.

Last night I wanted to test the "charge to 100%" button to override my scheduled charge level of 85%, so plugged in at 71% and hit the button in Fordpass. This morning I checked Fordpass to see if it did charge to 100%; to my consternation Fordpass reported that the battery status as 85%. OK, I figured that button didn't work - but to my surprise when I got in the car it reported 100% SOC. After driving the car 5 miles, Fordpass now shows 100%...

So, the button works but reporting of the status was wrong. As far as I can tell when it hit 85% (the programmed charge level) it stopped updating whatever database the app reads. But, since I started the car it refreshed the database with the correct value at the time of 100%. FYI, after getting home the car was showing 99% while the app is showing 100%.

I guess that's progress since the "charge to 100%" worked :)

Since the 3.20.0 update, I've noticed that my car only updates it's information when it's on. If it's parked, no information will update at all until I start it again. It was hit or miss before the app update, but I could usually force an update by issuing a lock or unlock command from the app, which doesn't work anymore. I'm sure that Ford is working on this since the app now keeps popping up this message that says that in the near future the car will be able to update its status even while sleeping.

Right, but it also updates while charging because it is also "awake" then. Where I think it went wrong was when it hit the programmed charge level it stopped updating even though it was still on

Yeah, they clearly still have work to do there.

If Ford is serious about their EV future they need to go back to the drawing board and develop an app that works reliably. The Mach E is my first EV and all I need is the ability to remote start for preconditioning (currently limits to 2 starts remotely) and to have real time status of charging. Since this update neither works properly. Come on Ford you sold us on this high tech Mach E and you should be embarrassed with this totally broken app. There has been 3 updates since I got the Mach E in Feb and each time it’s gets worst not better. I spent almost $75 K Cdn and I expect much better than this !!!!

I was going to start a thread to ask if other Android users have issues with it recognizing their phone? I will stand there for seconds without it seeing my phone, I have to open the app and sometimes have to unlock it through the app. Sucks

this is back to the general idea that PaaK is not reliable right now for many people. it may or may not have gotten worse with the recent OTA.

there's a ton of posts and multiple threads around this, but that's the summary.
