If people cancel at the confirm order stage then you could be right. Ford might not make any that they haven't got orders for. They can concentrate on the orders they have got. It might free up production line for other versions. If FE holders pull out later then you might be in with a shout. It did say that preorders weren't transferrable.1.5k for Europe then... I might have to give up hope! ?
@Wonky_Donkey might be onto something though... I would probably need to find someone in the UK who is going to cancel their order and ask them change the email address and phone number on their My Ford Account over to mine, and take over their order that way. I would then cancel my order and refund them their deposit + a fee for their troubles... ??If people cancel at the confirm order stage then you could be right. Has anyone looked at the fine print to see if the reservation is transferrable or not?@Wonky_Donkey might be onto something though... Ford UK are taking a similar stance on transfers...10. Reservation Cancellation; Transfer; Assignment.
You may cancel your Reservation and request a refund online at owner.ford.com. If you cancel your Reservation before you order your vehicle, the full Reservation Deposit will be credited back to your credit card within 10 business days. Please note that all cancellations are final. You may not transfer or assign your Reservation or any other rights under these Terms and Conditions.
I think the underlined portion answers that question.
I still think the best chance is working with a dealer that is willing to convert the order for the prospective buyer when they learn of a reservation holder not wanting to convert to an order.
I saw this the other day It would seem that if delivery stays the same we dont get test drive before or deliveries have already been postponed but Ford aren't letting onFord UK are taking a similar stance on transfers...
... but if you were to transfer your Ford account to someone else I can’t see how they could stop you realistically.
Interestingly while browsing the latest version of the Pre-order FAQ’s I came across this ...
So they are quoting delivery for Nov/Dec but Test Drives are not available until at least January ?!
I would like to know what 'uncertainties ' you refer to that led to your decision to cancel your reservationI cancelled my MME reservation tonight after purchasing a Honda CR-V Hybrid. Too many uncertainties with the Mach E.
Hi allHi all,
As posted by me in other relevant threads, Ford Netherlands urged me to sign the final purchase agreement this week with no
resolutive conditions regarding range specifications or delivery date (must be before 1/1/2021 due to tax regulations in The Netherlands).
Also, as the test drives are not possible for the coming weeks/months, this means that I have to sign for a car based on visuals only.
That's why I have formally cancelled my First Editon reservation today. My dissapointment towards Ford NL encourages me to look for another EV.
Shame!
I wish you all the best here and hope you will get your Mach E's on time and according to your expectations.
Ciao!
Marc.
