That is an option for sure but certainly is not a deal breaker. There could be a bit more room such that the charger does not need to be perfect. For us storage is acceptable so far. Fit a large rain barrel in sideways with seats up.Interesting comment about all the room under the trunk floor that could have been used for sub-trunk storage. Maybe in a future refresh.
Check out the Bolt battery series from Professor John Kelly:I have no idea how the batteries are structurally integrated with other EVs of this class, but I was pretty surprised to see how easy it would be to drop the battery out from underneath. As a tinkerer, it certainly makes me wonder if there'll be the potential for aftermarket battery upgrades/hacking in a few years (decades?) whenever the next leap in tech and chemistry occurs.
The thought to cost and time of repairs is definitely a selling point in the long run. Especially if the design is not changed for awhile.I have no idea how the batteries are structurally integrated with other EVs of this class, but I was pretty surprised to see how easy it would be to drop the battery out from underneath. Yes, it's a speaker housing. But it doesn't seem to do anything currently. Was that a speaker hanging down from the back end? The back up beep speaker?
Yours does not beep when backing up? Someone wondered how it gets disabled; appears easy.Yes, it's a speaker housing. But it doesn't seem to do anything currently.
Not anymore. But it has nothing to do with the speaker in the rear. Still not sure why that's there.Yours does not beep when backing up? Someone wondered how it gets disabled; appears easy.
I really liked the short HV cable runs coming from each end. This is good engineering for several reasons and will also make battery service easier.... I was pretty surprised to see how easy it would be to drop the battery out from underneath. ...
I bet though cutting through the metal and putting a plastic tub would result in more road noise coming into the cabin. Maybe an acceptable trade off, but I really like how quiet the Mach-E is and wouldn’t want to compromise that. Perhaps it would be a better move for the Escape BEV when it arrives.Interesting comment about all the room under the trunk floor that could have been used for sub-trunk storage. Thanks for posting that @Shayne. I don't follow him on Youtube so I'd have missed it.
