Article from Mark Phelan:

https://www.freep.com/story/money/c...llenges-launches-4-big-new-models/3156206001/

While beginning to cope with a global pandemic, Ford poises itself to launch, within a very short time period, the 2021 F-150 pickup, Mustang Mach-E, Bronco, and "Bronco Sport."

From article:
“Engineers spent more time with the vehicles than would’ve been possible otherwise,” Drake said. “Our metrics suggest we’re in better shape than we were before the shutdown.”
If true, that's good news.

For Mach-E, I assume all the mechanical and electrical work was completed before pandemic shutdowns began. But from a software point of view -- absolutely! More time to find and address bugs in firmware (and via firmware for non-SW issues), and also in the new infotainment system.

Maybe on the flip side though, less time to work out issues in the factories before ramping up the production velocity.

I’m curious to see how the extra time the engineers had is going to benefit the GT. I’d imagine they’ll be cooking up some very cool additional drive modes. With the extra wait we’re having here in the UK, I’m going to have to extend my current lease anyway... So I’m seriously considering waiting on the GT.

Yep. Unfortunately, that's backwards from where it would work out best. It's the mechanical/hardware stuff that's more important to get right before we receive the vehicles, since software can fairly easily be fixed with OTAs now.
