Anxious to see what happens around me (Raleigh, NC). Lots of dealers within 3 hours of my home, and I'll drive to one if it pays to do so. Not a big fan of pricing shenanigans for a commodity purchase.
I'm in Winston-Salem and messaged my dealer yesterday after seeing this thread. They called me back almost immediately, but only to say that they were still waiting on more details from Ford. They didn't think there'd be a markup and they weren't sure about x-plan pricing. They offered to follow up with me every couple weeks which was nice. I really don't want to message all the dealership between Charlotte and Raleigh... but I'll do it if I have to

In Maryland - just spoke to my dealer at Bob Davidson Ford in Baltimore; he confirmed no ADM, will take X plan pricing. Actually he was pretty knowledgeable (and chatty) - he recommended this forum as the best source of current data :)! Said dealerships usually get info at last minute from Ford (he thought as effort to stem leaks and misinformation), so the forum usually has more current info than dealers do. But he confirmed expects to get order codes 6/22, training in July, etc.
Awesome news @mattsaradan! Thanks. I have no problem driving to Balmer for the right price and that gives me more leverage if my dealer's response is less than ideal.

I contacted my selected dealer (All American Ford in Paramus, NJ). They confirmed that they will be accepting X Plan pricing. They recommended that the order be placed online once the order book opens.

Tesla Reportedly Facing Significant Model Y Quality Issues

After reopening its Fremont factory, Tesla is now reportedly facing Model Y quality issues, with new buyers refusing deliveries and in some cases, Tesla actively canceling deliveries due to quality defects.
In fact, several new Model Y buyers told Electrek that Tesla delayed delivery of their new car because of said defects. Some of these include loose seat belts and back seats that are not attached to the base.

Has anyone in the US had a dealer confirm whether the order deposit will be refundable or not?

Don't disagree. Just trying to be a voice of reason on this fan site ;) Instead of hating on other manufacturers and justifying Ford's past sins. These debates rage on all the various auto forums. No worries. Hopefully the MME has zero issues. Not sure if that's realistic though, but if that is the expectation it will be interesting for sure!

This was always going to be an issue, you could see ford knew they need to follow a easy path to ownership or people will just go elsewhere, the yet USA dealerships act as the last dodo that doesn't know it.

There are only so many masochists out there that enjoy the process of dealing with the idiots that pass for sales staff and see paying ADM to be first as a badge of honor. Dealers need to either evolve or go out of business, we have a whole generation that have grown up purchasing online and find retail sales an oddity and they will see the purchase of cars as no different.

Ford can easily skirt around the franchise laws and impact dealers that don't play ball they can quite easily delay dealers order for best sellers, becomes hard to compete with the other local dealers when your lot is barren compared to everyone else.

With Fords short sighted cancellation of cars for the USA, after years of owning Ford vehicles they are firmly in the last chance saloon for me with the mach-e so any hint of ADM on my reservation and I walk away and never come back, life is to short to put up with pointless hassles.

As my chosen dealer from the limited options presented when making a reservation has been so uncommunicative and yet to acknowledge my existence they probably have little interest in selling the mach-e and hopefully treat the sale as a one of oddity, so there is still hope of an ADM free sale lol

There is an increasing number of electric vehicles on the horizon that are all potential alternatives to the mach-e with the polestar 2 also following the online purchasing method going to the dealership may well become consigned to history where it belongs much sooner.

There have been lots of discussions on this site about the Explorer debacle. We've frequently expressed concerns that the start-stop-restart caused by COVID-19 could cause a repeat of what Ford did with the Explorer. Ford even brings that up as a lesson from which they have learned.

Tesla, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be learning. The myriad fit and finish problems in the Model 3 were bad enough Musk has even talked about them. Unfortunately, they are so far experiencing even more problems with the Model Y than the M3. That's not a good sign for any company.

The problems and pain of working with auto dealers and their often sleazy tactics is why I used a buying service for two of my last three auto purchases. Using the one through our credit union and using Costco were both much better than going into a dealership with a cable lock attached to my wallet and a rear mounted camera on my shoulder.

I encourage folks to post on the no-ADM thread so that we can keep a consolidated list of those dealers agreeing not to charge above MSRP.
I'll be looking at that thread next week if my Dallas dealer still won't give me a straight answer about ADM -- I already see there's one in Houston already willing to not charge it.

Posted my findings.

Also, any confirmation either way on if we can change the dealership during order process? Or is it base on what was reserved.

Ford told me that the dealer, along with other reservation details, can be changed when you order.

It is certainly an option, I don't have to be the first on the block to have a mach-e and if needs be can just wait until they turn up on lots, after all my reservation is not going to be in the first batch of vehicles anyway and that is not taking into account any further delays or potentials issues.

No point ford going through a reservation setup if at the end of the day after waiting months some greedy dealer slaps ADM on top and the purchase turns into business as usual.

You could argue that the mainstream manufactures are now past the compliance car days and there is a whole host of competing products on the horizon, with forum members having already got cracking deals on the i-pace the competition for our hard earned from other brands is just going to increase.
