" that Ford expert said instead I really need to use PAAK all the time "

I really hope this is some sick joke from the Ford engineer telling you this.

For the past 2 weeks not a SINGLE time have a gotten in my car with PaaK without it saying key not detected, or any other sort of error.

I don't even care about having two fobs, just fix PaaK. That has to be some joke that he said that lol.
Hah yeah “what do you mean No Key Detected, how do you think I just got in the car???”

Very minor point that does speak to the app catalog and branding. Ford does not use Zoom corporately they use Webex. And Webex is a an app you can load on the car to participate in meetings. Ford is one of if not the largest user of Webex. So installing it on Ford cars makes sense. And I would bet that @ten8bike meeting was a Webex meeting. However this is all background to the question: what apps would we like to see on the car? How would we get Ford to look at them? I would also guess that placing an app on the car is not free for the app vendor. We have a whopping 16 to choose from!

Or is app projection the better way? Thoughts?

As for my key PAAK its fine having no issues that are cause a concern. That FOB is big and rather not carry it around anyway.

As for the climate shutting it off is clumsy at best. Would love "Hello Ford climate off" but no such luck or an icon on the screen or a button would work (don't tell Sandy Munro I said add a button). By the way I think that is the biggest upside to Android OS in the car may be the speech based interface. Was that discussed?

My meeting was via Zoom...the link was sent to my email, and I held the phone through the whole meeting.

I have a similar zoom meeting scheduled in a couple weeks. I believe the meeting will mostly focus on FordPass, but I will try to bring some other issues to their attention also. Top of my list:
- FordPass bugs (specifically the almost completely worthless charge monitoring and management)
- Sync bugs (specifically the failure of certain settings to stick)
- IPC Buzz (I may try to take the Zoom in my car to demonstrate, but I need to test how to do that correctly - I can’t have the audio and mics swapping back and forth between phone and car when I’m turning car off and on.)
- Most wanted features. The forum took a great poll on this a few weeks ago. There were some clear winners. I plan to specifically plug making the volume dial more versatile and making the 360/front cams more useful for parking. Nobody was clamoring for the “intelligent charging” feature currently being beta tested to the early access folks - it wasn’t even included in the poll.

I have not tested PAAK extensively yet, but for the next week I am going to go fobless and record my observations. If it is problematic, I’ll mention that, too.

Overall I will tell them that I love the Mach E but there are some frustrating things that are taking a frustratingly long time to fix and I wish Ford had a more direct pipeline between its beta testers (us) and the engineers. To that end, I really appreciate the zoom meeting.
I'm not sure it happens to everyone, but the navigation tells me I'm in a school zone, but at midnight on a Sunday!!?? I know the thing has a clock.

In the navigation options (not through the settings tab where you can access all the other random vehicle settings, but through a different button you press on the navigation screen which specifically takes you to navigation options), I believe you can disable the school zone alert.

Before some help from the Ford engineers, Mr. Ed didn't know if was AM or PM. The car is scheduled to charge between midnight and 4AM; if I had plugged it in between noon - 4PM, it would start to charge.

the single key fob is probably the lamest aspect of the whole mach e experience for me. It's like they're giving you no option to using PAAK which has a pretty spotty track record thus far.

Agree, we need a paper manual, I went ahead and loaded a copy of the manual onto my phone.
I think this is exactly correct. They are forcing us to use PaaK. They are not doing it to be cheap like some folks think. To be honest once I used it though I like it, its possible I will come to love it. I have 6 different cars and 3 cars my kids drive. That is 9 different keys/key fobs. I have 2 separate keychains because of this. Keyfob chains like mine weigh a couple of pounds and are bulky as hell. With something like paak, I can see a time when I just have wallet and phone. I like it. Doesn't mean there arnt things to improve.

Admittedly, I did not read all the comments but I wish it had a hatch pop by the headlight controls like most other fords. I used that a bunch on my last car there is even room for it.

Various versions of that request have been mentioned in the thread. Some sort of permanent access to that control would be a good thing.

Until PaaK works as well as the fob, I dont feel comfortable using it. It is rainy season here in Michigan, and I don’t feel like having to stop and punch in a 5 digit code then wait for the car to unlock while I’m getting dumped on.
Having grown up outside Detroit, I would do the same

Well, they suppose that PAAK works 90% of the time, and during 10% you use the enter keypad and the start password.
I agree that having something working 100% of time is much better.
I don’t know who “they” are or what you are defining as working or not. However, the only time I had to use the passcodes was back in March when I was in remote areas of the Everglades with no cell signal. That’s more like 99% with a well-defined ~ 1% failure scenario.

I mean Ford engineers.
I agree, I just made up percentages. Actual failure rate is to be determined.

I would love a user-configurable home screen in the car that I could arrange to my liking. Don't make me drill down into menus for things I want to access frequently.

One thing I always forget, to turn on AC full power before starting backing up. It's getting hot nowadays and you don't want to sit in a hot car for even a few seconds. When you switch to reverse the camera starts working and the AC button is disabled. It would be great if they used physical buttons and dials for climate control. Going through the menus for any basic operation is a bad design.

It seems the PaaK is randomly unstable. I can go for literal weeks without an issue and then a stretch of time were I constantly get "key not detected". I may be able to take to the dealer and have them perform some updates but since I can enter a door code and passcode on the screen to start, I never feel stranded, just inconvenienced.

I know people with Teslas and have seen it happen to them first hand. I'm sure it happens to them less frequently though.
Mine is not randomly unstable, it's being very stable in its refusing to work ? It worked the first time I set it up, but then it stopped and never worked again. But it does show a permanent notification "Phone as a key trying to connect to your vehicle"

For the button question a real button to open the Trunk would have been better than going to Car>Access>Open Trunk. Especially since sometimes I close the car before I open the trunk
Oh, I didn't know you can do that. I always thought you need to kick it in the trunk.
