It doesn't matter. A big ugly dial glued to a screen is equally useful to me, regardless of the difference.

Well, if Ford made the big ugly dial an optional extra, I'd be ok with that.
It sounds like it truly offends you. Rumor is that it’s just attached with adhesive. Perhaps you’d like to be the first to perform a dialectomy and report to the group the result? You’d still have the audio system on/off touch button in the middle available to you.

How would that free up screen space it's taking up?

Clearly a software rewrite would be needed to use the screen real estate differently. It sounded, from the posts, that the mere presence of a dial, was offensive. So remove it.

Consider: Ford has sold about 25,000 Mustang Mach E’s so far. If they granted each owner a 10 minute audience with one engineer, you’re talking a total of 4,147 hours of engineering time. How many times do you think they need to hear “I hate the knob”, “I want a button for the camera”, “I want ventilated multicontuor seats with active motion”, “I want cup holders big enough to hold a super-mega-big gulp”, I want to be able to inductively charge my 12.9” iPad Pro on the center console”, “i want to be able to watch Netflix in 4K Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound on the center screen”, and my personal favorite: “I want to be able to power my house from my electric car during a power outage” ?

As I posted previously, it's not a deal breaker. If it was, I wouldn't have dropped $60K on it. I am offended that the big ugly dial takes up space that could have been used for something useful, without adding anything I need. I have no intention of removing it, but if I had a choice, it wouldn't be there in the first place.

Also if I removed the big ugly dial, and later chose to exercise my option to turn it in to Ford, I'm pretty certain they would charge me for that.

It seems the PaaK is randomly unstable. I can go for literal weeks without an issue and then a stretch of time were I constantly get "key not detected". I may be able to take to the dealer and have them perform some updates but since I can enter a door code and passcode on the screen to start, I never feel stranded, just inconvenienced.

I know people with Teslas and have seen it happen to them first hand. I'm sure it happens to them less frequently though.
I find my experiences with PAAK to be kind amusing and sometimes ridiculous, like those crazy long CVS receipts. Don't get me wrong: I use PAAK 100% of the time, and it's never left me stranded. But it's hard to understand how it can let me in the car, but give me a key not detected, if I push start too quickly. Then, once it lets me start, I'll often get a key not detected, after putting it into drive and pulling away. I've even gotten a key not detected after sitting in the car in park for a few minutes after starting it, while making a phone call.

Sometime, you've just got to enjoy the randomness of life (or PAAK)!

Don't know what you think of me and the problems but that aint it. gosh what a hopeless comment.

The list i've gived to Ford NL are serious issues/bugs/questions. Like misalignment of the panoramic roof, trunk, frunk not closing. PaaK not unlocking car. Automatic day/night-mode too slow while entering and exiting a tunnel, Lane Assistant doing unsafe corrections etc etc.

I am not being critical or dismissive of your issues. Actually, I tried to toss in what I thought were some extreme issues to drive home a point humorously. It may be that the humor didn’t translate very well. The underlying point remains. While many is us have legitimate concerns with a V1.0 vehicle, many of those concerns are duplicates and honestly, it’s unrealistic to ask Ford to have the Mustang Mach E engineering team stop whatever their doing (like fixing issues and working on the V2.0 vehicle) to listen to each of us individually.
Perhaps a compromise might be for them to hire an external consulting firm to organize focus groups of owners to collect feedback from group sessions of owners, but I’m not sure people would appreciate that approach. I sense that everyMustang Mach E owner wants to feel that they have a “direct inside connection” to “the man”.

You realize that nothing (except death) is 100% successful, right?
You must have forgotten about Kim Jong Un....100% successful. Just ask the North Korean News Agency! Good point though. The question is how successful makes this work for their customers?

I’m wondering how can I arrange such call with Ford engineers to go around the instrument screen buzzing issue.
So much this. My call would have been miserable for everyone in my car with the buzzing going on the whole call.

I'll have to check Marlin but our Leaf blocks all controls when in reverse as a safety feature, too.
I asked Ford about this... it is not a bug. It is deliberate that the car locks out unnecessary controls when in reverse. They want your attention focused when backing the car. When you finish backing out and switch to drive (or Park) all controls return to normal.

Maybe mention the strange and unnecessary double icon to open and lock the car in FordPass. It should be one icon and then it should toggle from open to locked and locked to open.
I can easily imagine a locked car refusing to render an UNLOCK icon on the app because because the app (mistakenly) thinks the car is ALREADY unlocked... and there you are unable to use the app to get into the car and looking to other methods.

One observation I've had with FordPass and the car's multiple methods to communicate...

While PaaK works without needing to touch anything ... entirely by Bluetooth, interacting with the buttons seems to only work via AT&T wireless network. I say this because I can be standing next to the car, with FordPass showing connected to car via Bluetooth *AND* I can verify that the car is also connected to my home WiFi (and so is my phone) and yet... I can press unlock and wait many seconds before getting a failure message. This probably happens because I live in a really bad cell signal area. So of all the methods to relay data to the car, the AT&T wireless is going to be (predictably) the most error-prone.

My mac has multiple connection methods too (wired ethernet, wifi, bluetooth, etc. etc.) and there's a "set service order" option in the network panel. The car would benefit from the same ideas... if the car can & app can directly talk via Bluetooth ... do that. If the phone and car are both on the same wifi network (but too far away for Bluetooth) then do that. If the car & phone are not on the same network ... THEN use AT&T (as a last resort) and things would be a lot more stable.

I'm a bit late in responding to this.

1) It's really great that Ford is directly reaching out to interview customers. That's never happened to me with any other car and it shows Ford really wants to understand consumer perspectives.

2) We wont all agree on what we'd like to see.

3) As for PaaK (because this sort of de-railed onto that topic) ... it is pretty solid for me but I thought I'd share some observations.

I have a detached garage with a large patio between the house and garage. That's important to note because I think it plays into why my reliability is better than what others report.
Whenever I get close to the car, I can see the parking lights switch on because the car senses that I am approaching.
SINCE I have a detached garage, as long as I'm inside, this never happens (parking lights never light up). When I ultimately do open the garage and walk out to it, the car lights up and PaaK "Just works" ... EVERY TIME.
But there are some conditions I've noticed. If I'm on the patio doing some work ... perhaps a bit of gardening, etc. I get near the car, then far away, then near, then far, etc. and THEN when I open the garage and approach the car ... it DOES NOT "just work".
I've also noticed that if I park ... say at a grocer ... then go inside ... when I come out the car lights up as I approach and PaaK "just works" -- again, pretty much 100% success.
But I've had a few events (notably car events) where I am hanging "near" the car ... I step away and I hear it lock, then I approach and it lights up ... back and forth ... and THEN PaaK does NOT "just work".
So the pattern I have detected is that if you depart/approach/depart/approach the car too many times without ACTUALLY getting into the car, PaaK starts behaving as if you're the Boy Who Cried Wolf too often... and it stops paying attention when you get close. Then I have to open FordPass and push the UNLOCK button to get in (or use the door-code).
This makes me wonder if people who experience PaaK failure can pick up on patterns of when it works vs. doesn't work. I really wonder about people who own homes with an attached garage where just being in the room in the house that is adjacent to the garage wall will trigger enough false-unlocks with PaaK that it stops responding.
4) As a data point, I do not have battery issues with FordPass running. I just checked my phone. Apple iOS reports that FordPass is responsible for about 3% of my energy usage on the phone (not enough for me to worry about.)
