Did you sign up for the EA Pass+ membership that costs 4.00/month and you can stop it at anytime? If not then you should as this discounts the cost of charging by at least 25% and you will more than make up the cost of the 4.00 in the first charging session. EA is expensive but if you only use it on road trips and you do the majority of your charging at home you are more than making up the cost of using and maintaining an ICE vehicle.

Any kind of road trip is bordering on the same pricing as gas. It works out as a great saving when you charge at home. Too many people didn't do the math and think this is cheaper than gas for road trips. It's not. At least not with the present level of competition.

Sounds like you need to sign up for the membership. It is only $4 a month and very worth it. I would also point out that right now if you use Plug & Charge EA will charge you the highest rates rather than the membership rate. So be sure to swipe or activate via the app prior to plugging in to save money.

I assume you charged in Pennsylvania and Indiana? Those are 2 of the states that charge per minute instead of per kWh. That makes it way more expensive, especially if the chargers aren't charging at their full speed.

I just got back from a 1200+ mile round trip to Texas. I used the Ford-supplied credit when charging on EA. Once I got into southern OK, no more EA. Charge stations were provided by Francis Energy and billed through EVGateway. Here is an example:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Electrify America is very expensive 1624298719869

They charge by the minute - it comes out to about $0.21 per KwH. Very reasonable. You just have to make sure you're there to stop charging when you hit 80% - $0.32 per minute would be very expensive charging after the 80% wall is hit!

I've done the math. EA Charging in GA where it charges $0.24 per minute (non pass is 0.32 per minute) it costs me $0.15249 per kW.

In GA we have GA Power as one of the main supporters of EV's, and as a utility company they provide a $0.01 kW during the super off peak hours for EV Drivers.

Comparing the $0.15249 to my residential $0.123, almost a $0.03 difference.

Comparing it to a 2021 Ford Escape AWD vs an MME at 2.75 kW, you're still coming out ahead price wise (if you use the EA Pass + which as many have said can pay for itself in a single charge)

Even more expensive when you consider most people get more than 30 mpg, or 40 mpg from hybrids...
