Does that mean I'll finally get my $5k soon?
Probably not Monday.

Turns out there is a delay. Could be as late as Thursday that the budget is signed.

Either way, still early for this state. Some years they've gone days beyond July 1 and simply "turned the clock back" to the end of the fiscal year.

And I wouldn't count on anyone getting reimbursements yet until BPU releases what the heck they're actually planning on doing.

NJBPU meeting this Thursday, clean energy program recommendations on the agenda - page 8.

https://www.nj.gov/bpu/pdf/boardagendas/2021/20210624a.pdf

Now is a good time to contact your dealers and remind them enroll in the dealer portal (see post 309). My salesman didnā€™t know the NJ rebate program even existed, but possible that the finance office is aware. I sent him the enrollment info anyway.

Just hurry up ā€œsummer 2021ā€ because the dealer-ordered car that I have a deposit on was delivered yesterday ? Luckily itā€™s a Select RWD and no one really wants those ?

I saw that agenda, but I'm not sure it's on it. The Straw Proposal was Docket No. QO21040745, but I don't see that docket # listed. Maybe it's folded into the entire budget discussion (let's hope!).

NJ 2022 budget passed and the BPU approved the budget and proposal. We don't seem to quite know what's in it in terms of soft caps or when it will start?

Still need the Gov to sign it. Can't imagine he won't, but we may not see anything until that happens.

Haven't run through that egregiously long BPU meeting to see if I can figure out "what" exactly they approved. I'm still unclear if the rules for the program were really on the agenda or if this was just a broader budgetary vote--it's entirely possible they could approve the money first without approving the rules for the program itself.

I watched it live - from my understanding, BPU approved the Charge Up NJ phase 2 funding (total budget actually seems to be an increase from proposed $) - but not the program details itself. No announcement on incentive amounts or launch date/month, although the straw proposal was mentioned. Board mtg also contained an excessive amount of praise for those running this program.

ETA: The board minutes seem to suggest that the straw proposal was approved and the soft cap will remain? Hard to discern anymore: https://www.state.nj.us/bpu/pdf/boardorders/2021/20210624/8A ORDER CRA FY2022.pdf

Tesla people seem to think so. For them to say "based on stakeholder feedback" is just complete BS. I told them it was stupid and I'm a stakeholder and testified.

EDIT: I read it. As expected. They are keeping the soft cap. So silly. Not even a phase-out, which is so, so dumb.

I don't expect the chargeup website itself to be updated until the Governor signs the budget, but that should be very soon--although he could drag it out to make sure there are no other bills passed before the Legislature leaves town, so June 30 at the latest as that's required by law.

I agree about the stakeholder BS - that wasnā€™t how that went down at all. I finally gave up today and purchased (no ADM). Thatā€˜s the stateā€™s goal after all, right?? Weed out the ā€œincentive-essentialā€ buyers from others? /s Well my Carvana trade-in appraisal came in $3k over KBB and my $45,895 Select RWD w/ Package would perhaps only get a $2k Incentive at this point. I am relieved to not have to obsess about this anymore. Now I can obsess about other things, like when the residential charger incentive begins ā€later this yearā€ :)

I do hope it all works out for my fellow Jerseyian MME post-purchase and POS buyers. See you on the streets!

Congrats StephyWephy!

I ordered my car in November and my first delivery estimate was 7/4-7/11. Then I got a "we need extra time to ensure your complete satisfaction" email with a revised estimate of 7/17-7/24.

Then Wednesday evening the dealer called and said my car was there. I was like, "Oh crap! I really want to delay delivery until the state incentive comes back." Then the salesman called back and put Joe Orlando on the phone and he let me know that my name and VIN were on the Ford $5k incentive list. So no fretting about $5k vs $2k and I took delivery today!

I ordered the car expecting the $5k NJ incentive and, like the thread title says, Ford really made good for "affected customers." I hadn't really expected to be considered part of that group but am really grateful I was!

Beautiful car!!! Love that infinite blue, congrats! You even have the shirt to match. I don't blame you for not wanting to play this game anymore with just $2K on the hood.

Ultimately went through Lilliston, right? They do have a huge selection. So jealous!

I've got another 6 weeks until my MCA X-Plan kicks in, so I'll just wait. With the the X-Plan discounts getting bigger for each trim (assuming they all remain the same in a few weeks) the difference between a "base" premium vs. a select + 1 option is so small so I might just bite the bullet . Although that $5K for a base select with no options makes that car stupidly cheap...
