So I just had an interesting thought. As it stands with the current frunk lever, the way it's designed, you physically can't pull the lever unless the driver's door is open.

Will they add the same interlock digitally?

Or in other words: is it a purposeful decision to not allow the frunk to be opened unless the driver's door is open? Or is this just a carry over because they used the same lever from ICE vehicles?

I personally don’t care about electronic frunk access via Sync because if I’m in front of the screen anyway, I might as well just pull the physical lever.
Agreed. The frunk might become something other than a curiosity whenever outside access is allowed, theoretically using the door keypad. If I have to open the car to access the frunk I'm better off just using the hatch.?

Was a big mistake not putting a kick to open in the frunk that similar to the rear. Maybe on the 2022's ?

Just like with the trunk access, It won't open if the car is in gear.

Well, there's at least some sort of electrical capability to open the frunk, since that's how the 12v emergency frunk opening works.
There is a small access panel in the front bumper area - passenger side if I remember correctly - that provides access to wires that can be connected to a 12 volt source. As I don't have my car yet, I am working from memory of a video that I have seen.

So they’re adding electronic frunk opening…. but nesting it here means it still takes three screen taps (plus whatever latency) to open both the rear hatch and frunk.

I personally don’t care about electronic frunk access via Sync because if I’m in front of the screen anyway, I might as well just pull the physical lever. What I do care about is being able to easily open the rear hatch while I’m in the car. If Ford won’t give us a physical button, it needs to be one tap on the screen.
I was looking at my screen today trying to decide the best place to put a rear hatch button without cluttering things up. The solution was obvious: Ford gave us a physical button for Max Defrost near the left driver knee. It’s the button that should have been for the rear hatch. So, just replace the max defrost screen button on the bottom bar with a button for rear hatch. I know that doesn’t necessarily jibe with the rest of the HVAC controls on the bottom bar, but is solves the problem pretty cleanly.

Yeah, This location is where the rear hatch button was on my Edge. It makes sense right there. A defrost button doesn't. But, its about the only place they had to stick buttons without it looking too out of place. I get it. But give us a button that we would use.

So the screen for the rear hatch (and the hood release in the shared pics) pops up when you stop the car. Not sure when I'd want a physical button for it. If I'm already outside I'd use the exterior button or the kick to open, if I'm inside and just got to where I am going, I'll be stopping the car anyway and this screen pops up...

Not saying there is never a case for a physical button but I'm not sure how much redundancy of controls should be anticipated.

Took pictures of bezel diagnostics of the GT. Stupidly, I forgot to look at the Sync version ?. Looks like some cosmetic upgrades coming, plus the ability to open the frunk from the screen.

Strange but is the VIN a GT VIN?? Thought GT's were 3FMTK4SX4MME or might that be for the GT PE's?

Hmmm…. It does not do that for me. Is this a Sync 4A thing?

The screen doesn't pop up. It takes 3 clicks (to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop) to get to the screen to open hatch. Personally, I'm fine with it the way it is

I believe it's a setting, not sure which one, but you can have that screen pop up when you stop... I don't remember when since it's already setup for me. Might be under vehicle, or general.

*Edit - cannot seem to locate it now, so maybe it's just a default for me.. I get that screen every time I turn off the car.

There is a setting for it, don't remember if the top of my head since I set it several months ago.

Save yourself one tap... Also hold the trunk button longer and it pops up I believe..
