Hi guys,

I’ve hit 14k miles and I’m a week away from my fourth month.

couple of updates that I have noticed.

-dealers still don’t know anything about this car.
-first service was $49 at 10k miles. A bunch of checks and fluid fill ups mostly.
-I do 113 mph everyday any chance I get. My commute is usually at 80mph over 120 miles. 90% of the commute is highway. The car loses about 15-20% of the estimated range at this speed. I charge the car to 100% everyday and the range at 100% depending on the weather is 270-330.
-when the car is driven at around 60mph the range is almost spot on.
-paak is horrible. My physical key is acting up a lot. The car senses the key when I come near as the lights turn on, but when I press the circle, it won’t open. I have to press the key unlock or the number pad to get the door to open. Happens all the time. I mean all the time. Maybe just my key.
-paak update did nothing. Absolutely horrible.
-the front dash screen turns off constantly. To remedy this, I have to turn off the car, open the front door, close the front door, wait about a minute, start it up again then the screen will turn back on. Happens about 2 days out of the week. I asked the dealer about this multiple times but they don’t want to mess with it either as whenever I get to the dealership it works like nothing ever happened.
-I haven’t gotten this much attention with a car. Mostly positive. This car is a Middle aged men magnet as they are the only ones that keep asking about it everywhere I park.
-the car needs at least 130mph max speed.
-when the door opens, the key is not detected sometimes.
-the car so far has been great. The little issues are annoying especially the door not opening.

-I still don’t use the frunk. Too many steps to open it. I don’t know how they will get it to open via remote as there are no electronics in the hood.

-the screens need to be customizable. When the dash fails, there should be an option to show the speed on the center screen.
-faster ota updates would be nice.
-the app tracks your every movement as it pings the vehicle constantly. I would love to turn this off but without the app, I can’t create a backup password to start the car. And other issues with tracking my every move is a concern.

Take a video of the problem on the dash. Work in tech, it helps wonders to see the actual problem.
I did. I showed them videos, and once I drove to the dealership with the screen off, but then when the tech starts it, it starts like nothing happened. No codes either so they can’t do anything about it is what they told me.

There is an electronic release motor attached to the frunk latch but it has not been activated yet by Ford. It will be eventually in a future update.

Does the driver's door open if you open the rear door first? If so, this can be fixed by disconnecting your 12V battery for a minute or so. You won't lose any of your settings, except your estimated range will be stupid low for a couple of charge/recharge cycles.

Great report after a *lot* of miles. Thanks.

But a serious question...why do you need to go 130 mph?
Can’t keep up with any car out there. Probably will never reach it, but still sucks that it taps out at 113 being a mustang.

Really? Watch Ford be like Tesla and tell us we need to pay to activate it lol

It doesn’t open any doors unless I press the unlock button on the physical key or enter my code. Its weird as the lights turn on as I see the screen do it’s animation and the circle light up but pressing it won’t open any door. There are times it does work. Maybe the paak and the physical key are canceling each other? I don’t know

Yeah, that's weird. Other than not being able to open any door, mine would do the same when I walked up. Lights would turn on, I could hear some clicking, and I could open the hatch, and any door other than the driver's door had to be opened first. I disconnected the 12V, and PaaK has worked great since. Might be worth taking the 15 minutes to do it.

Did you notice the mi/kWh when driving at your highway commute speed? You probably have to reset the trip when on the highway to get the exact rating (I am just guessing about that since my MME has not been delivered yet).

BTW - envious of your highway speed as I promised my wife I would not do that any more. So now I am one of the slow 78 mph drivers you pass every day.

I live in Chicago and use my car mostly for road tripping. I typically am going 75-90 on the interstate and my efficiency is usually around 2.4-3.0. I’ll say it’s pretty anecdotal and not scientific, but depending on elevation changes, it should be somewhere in there.

If I slow down a bit below 70, I see it creep up quite quickly.

I didn’t do that calculation. I just go by the % left when I get home. Elementary math that I do calculates 1% as about 3 miles lol. so I just deduct from when I speed to when I don’t to get the figure I got.

I told my wife the same thing lol. But when you get to speeds so quick, by the time you realize it it’s at 100!

Has your dealership attempted to update all modules available to be updated? Would think that since you seem to have a few issues/complaints, some might be remedied if they made sure everything was up-to-date.

I have a late December/Early Jan build - the only dealer update I had applied was PaaK. I've received both 1.4 and 1.6 OTA's and have had no issues (other than instrument cluster screen buzzing). PaaK works very well for me (iPhone 12 Pro) after PaaK update.

The frunk will be able to be remotely unlatched. It's not a powered lift like the rear, but it does have an electronic release (the button inside is electronic only, that's why we got the dividers on early builds, since there wasn't an emergency release inside the frunk). With the remote/electronic release you'd still have to manually lift and close it though. Frunks aren't super useful to me with everyday driving, but they are wonderful on road trips. The extra space really helps.

they told me they updated everything when I brought it in for the first service. I have the iPhone 12 mini and paak has been frustrating. Thank the lord I don’t have the buzzing. Gotta get lucky somewhere I guess.

I don’t really use the frunk because the amount of dust that accumulates is scary.
