The early-access program allows those enrolled to get it a few weeks early. When I read the information (I am in the program and on the BlueCruise early-access but the feature is not yet enabled) it mentioned we would be asked to use it for four weeks ... and then complete a survey.
You and @JoeDimwit both mention this, but I never saw it. Can you post an image of this?

Ah there it is. Was this in the app? Website? I can’t seem to recreate this in my account.

Re-reading this, they really don’t say that we will be getting the product (BlueCruise) any earlier than anyone else. They could be simply using us to give them feedback on specific points once they release BlueCruise. That wouldn’t be “early access”. But it would, technically, meet the criteria laid out in that message.

That said, they are unlikely to get as much feedback as they assume they will if “early access” doesn’t actually provide “early” access.

Early does not necessarily mean earlier or earliest...

No it's not ?. If it is a beta program for something that can kill people you will likely have to first sign off on a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo, grant indemnifications, and promise to take the blame if something goes wrong. You typically also have to certify that you know it is "a work in progress" and not a "final released" product.

Trying something and filling out a survey afterward is not limited to beta programs.

** EDIT **
Going back to the development process I mentioned: Beta software is expected to be updated during the beta period to fix things that weren't seen in the company's testing process, so the "beta version" and "released version" are almost always different - in fact there are often many "beta" versions that incorporate fixes as the process unfolds. In the case of a released product that is in limited availability the expectation is that the software sent out in limited release will be the same as the general release. If there is a serious "show stopper" the process is halted and the cycle of internal test->beta->limited release will begin again. In the absence of a serious issue, the same software is given to everyone without change.
That would make early access, a gold master beta release, would it not? I mean, if they send the update to early access people early, and find an issue, would they not delay sending the update to other customers until they can figure out and repair the fault?

I did read that. I hate arguing over the semantics, but they could have put those early access volunteers in the first wave of activation. That would technically be “early” in the grand scheme of things.

BlueCruise is not in beta. It is a complete version. But it's more of a version 1.0

The early access program will give us the opportunity to give some extra feedback, but it will be used to to help make future updates to the feature.

I'm frustrated as most of you are. My contact at Ford has been silent since we talked just after the early access for BC was announced. At this point it's available on cars being delivered now, so they missed the window for it to actually be early access.

EAP testers will at worst, IMO, be using the final release candidate of the software. I believe that Ford will have a stable version as a result of testing by various Ford Employees and their feedback. That's probably either ongoing now or likely coming to a conclusion now.

Like everything else in this world right now, it's behind. We all need to get used to it, that part isn't changing anytime soon.

To reiterate, there is no indication this is a true "Beta". Ford is testing the Power-Up system as much as BlueCruise itself. BlueCruise is already out in the hands of GT/GTPE owners. That's not a Beta program. They are running BlueCruise without special Beta waivers. The difference is that they didn't get it via a Power-Up, it came installed in the car and they have already paid for it as part of their purchase.

Ford now has to make sure the Power-Up doesn't brick cars or cause other issues. Ford will first test the Power-Up with insiders (employees), then Early Access, then start rolling it out to the general public. Ford also has to test the condition Power-Up system -- only send this Power-Up to folks who have paid. As we've already seen, everyone doesn't get the Power-Ups at once anyway. By sending it to the Early Access folks before the general public, Ford can feel confident the Power-Up will work and Early Access folks can feel good by submitting/releasing their "reviews".

Some of you guys might need to see a chiropractor what with all the bending over backwards to give Ford every benefit of the doubt. Or maybe a proctologist.

As somebody very astutely pointed out above, there’s only one explanation for Ford sending out that EAP invite a month ago and crickets since while BC now comes preinstalled from the factory: yet another OTA SNAFU.

The big update that Ford has been teasing is ready for release. I've seen the list of every module that's getting updates and there is 20 on the list. It's starting to look like they are just going to push that out to the early access members first. It appears that the releases are final and approved for release. They just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

So it’s impossible that Ford management lease drivers have provided some feedback already and tweaks are being made to BlueCruise. Which could delay the rollout.
