If Edmunds gets a hold of one, they're going to put it up against their Y Performance, which is part of the fleet. Edmunds isn't dumb, they know Tesla content gets them clicks.

Many reviewers run 1/4 miles and report trap speeds. If Ford says no 1/4s at the media drive they might as well shoot themselves in the foot while they’re at it. That would be the biggest red flag ever at the launch of a Mustang badged Performance edition EV.
Media Drive (around the parking lot at 30mph)

Not even that, but if Ford has some kind of track that never goes over 60 mph, I'm sure the reviewers are going to see that as a red flag. And I'm sure more than a couple of those reviewers have heard of or are watching these threads and are ready to see how it accelerates above 60mph.

Ford Media drive Coordinator: “We’ve limited the media drive to 88mph, for, well, reasons…”

Future GT owners: “Because you’re gonna see some serious shit the bed.”

Why all this focus on the “media drive?”

Don’t most car magazines (Motortrend, Car and Driver etc) just get their own vehicles and test on their own tracks on their own time schedule?

That’s why they all end up with different results. They aren’t all testing the same vehicle at the same track on the same day.

It’s the embargo holding those up, not the media drive.

I thought media drives were usually a preview of a vehicle that hasn’t quite been released yet. Not sure why it’s held up for 2 months after the car hit the roads.

For example: here’s a media drive for the Ford Bronco……… done in Sept of 2020 (waaay before release)

I tried another pull today. Same road as last time, but opposite direction. 97% charge, Unbridled, no break pre-loading.

I'm closing in on @harrysiii...lol

The focus is on the media drive because the review embargo will be lifted shortly after it. See the new Raptor for the latest example.

That Bronco event in 2020 was only ride alongs. Driving impressions didn't come out until earlier this year, shortly after deliveries began and an actual media drive occurred. Most of the time that happens within a month or two of the vehicle beginning customer production. This GT review embargo lasting from July to October is a huge outlier and definitely indicates something is up.

That is getting more to what the performance dorks (myself included) need to see. And that flattening at 70-ish is concerning. Can it continue to pull like that through to 100-110? If so then great. If not then blahhhh.

Do we even know for sure that the embargo will lift for other reviews, or will they just allow reviews from the media drive (what I thought was going on)

Well going off of Bronco and Raptor reviews from earlier this year, a steady stream of reviews have continued to come out after the initial wave of driving impressions from the main media event released. It would be safe to assume that is when Ford lifts their embargos and its free reign for reviewers after that.

Ambient temp is 10F warmer on this run compared to Harry's previous run. I wonder what the battery pack temp differences are, if any.

Short answer, not necessarily. I’m not aware of a GT press fleet out there for media outlets to test, embargo or no. Could be wrong. The chip shortages have fudged the usual order of things up so much.
