Not likely as many Ford videos show a specific "1-pedal mode" on/off setting on the main display.
I'm guessing those just apply different degrees of regen. L is probably medium, and one-pedal is probably max regen.

See a couple of comments I have on this page (particularly the second one for "L"):

I'm glad they have a "one-button" setting (i.e. the Drive dial) to easily and quickly engage more regen ("down shift" equivalent) on the fly rather than having to go to through the screen menus. Should be especially useful for mountain driving. Depending on the downhill slope, there's times I want to coast, while there's times I want to slow down without riding the break. But that's constantly changing for each hill. Just turning the dial between D and L should be great for that. (Even more great would be a steering wheel button/paddle that toggles between D and L.)

The fusion also does regen when you push the brake pedal -- not hard but a general steady deceleration.

I've had this question before with regards to 1-pedal driving. Is this just your personal preference?
I was just providing a reference to the discussion addressing whether the MME provides a personal setting for more aggressive regen without engaging L manually (which it does as each of the three driving modes selected provide different levels of regen and there is separately an option to engage one-pedal driving). I'm not voicing a personal preference one way or the other though.
Hard to say what I'll personally do until I drive it. However, I suspect that I will have it in Unbridled mode all the time (why else pay extra for a GT Performance?) and that will provide enough regen for my tastes. I don't know that I will engage one-pedal driving on top of that.

On the Focus Electric (and, I think, on the Energi models) Ford had a special brake pedal so that it felt like you were using the friction brakes but if you lightly pressed it; it would use regen only and only when you pressed harder the friction brakes would engage. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't include such on the Mach-E--its already in the parts bin.

For more detailed info on that read this .pdf about the Focus Electric's braking system:

Yes, my C-Max hybrid works the same way. My rotors tend to get rusty from the low usage of the friction brakes. I like to coast up to the red lights using the regen to slow down (drives people crazy cause they like to speed up to the light and wait, while I’m regening all that energy and end up right beside them) so I’ll lightly press the brake pedal to increase the regen then only use the friction brakes for the last 5-10 mph before stopping.

If you use one-pedal braking every day like I do you will need to clean your rotors by putting it neutral once a month and using the friction brakes.

I watched a video last month on vehicle sales and one of the items was manual vs automatic transmission. While manuals are still fairly common in Europe, they've plummeted to less than 2% of passenger vehicles in the US.

I knew they were becoming rare here, but I didn't realize it was quite THAT rare.

I grew up on learning on a column shift then a floor shift but that was when I lived in a town of no more than 20 thousand people. the only traffic we had was leaving the school parking lot. Moving to Dallas area I couldn't get rid of a stick shift fast enough

The "L" throws people off. "R" is more appropriate but of course would be even more confusing :)
My wife was always afraid to use "L" in our Energi and the FFE because she knows you can't throw an ICE vehicle into "L" while at speed.

I later explained it to her a different way and "D" would coast for a bit when letting off the accelerator pedal where "L" would Limit Coast. That seemed to register with her and now she gets it.

I think a symbol would be more appropriate instead of "L" or "B" etc. Not sure what that would be though.....??
