Given our endless potholes and curbs that jump out at WAGs, I decided to forgo my desired custom forged wheels in favor of some flow formed Ferradas. With limited options in the 5x108 market, some friends assisted in some semi-custom pieces to get what I was looking to achieve:

Ferrada FR8 | CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS Ultra High Performance All-Season
20x9 ET35 | 245/45R20 | 52.0lbs
20x10 ET45 | 275/40R20 | 55.8lbs

*Ford OEM GTPE wheel + 245/45 PZero combo weighed 60.4lbs each. So Iā€™ve shaved ~26lbs off the rotating mass, while adding a bit more contact patch.

Maintains OE height and balanced stretch. Outer sidewalls are pretty close to flush with fenders, which was the target. Initially we planned to mill down the fronts ~3mm and rears ~2mm to target ET38|ET47, but these off the shelf offsets look like they may work out good as-is.

I really wanted the maximum concave I could do, but given OE offsets itā€™s tough to accomplish unless we go pretty wide. Curious how a 9.5/255 & 10.5/285 setup would play out (maybe next round), but really not too much room out back to work withā€¦ The rear plastic fender liner is pretty close with 10ā€|275, but this can be pulled back some without much work

*Weather here has been crap the last week, so parking garage photos will have to suffice... Also note the susp is likely not settled on the ferrada side comparo shots

This is an amazing setup. I have a Star White arriving any moment and this is exactly the set up Iā€™m looking at. Reading the comments above, have you noticed any understeering? Iā€™m not driving on a track, just a daily driver. I absolutely love the staggered look and am probably willing to sacrifice some tire life if the handling isnā€™t significantly compromised. Thanks for sharing!
PS- What about TPMS sensors? Did you purchase new ones or take them from the stock wheels?

Tire life: you are looking at cutting tire life in half with a staggered set up. No front to back rotation means localized wear is amplified in the front/rear tires. Think worn outer shoulder blocks in front and worn center tread out back.

Handling compromises: depends on how much spirited driving you do on curvy roads/track. If you never go beyond 5/10s it probably wonā€™t be an issue. But the 275 in back will have greater lateral grip than the 245 up front, so, the previously even grip of the 245 squared set up is now biased to more rear grip, and thus, the front gives up sooner, bam - additional understeer.

Some people like a decent amount of understeer, I canā€™t stand it. To each his/her own.

Thanks gents, bigger thanks to the early adopters who did all the legwork and trialing to make this easier for us all... @markboris @50 Deep @mtxpert thanks for all your testing work & guidance so far

I went to a shop looking for a similar setup and they said not to do the staggered setup on all wheel drive. Thought?
Maybe be we are not connected to a transmission. Cool I'm thinking of the Vossen HF2 in a 22x9.5 f and 22x10.5 rear. What are your thoughts on that set up.
Thanks
Thanks for the heads up, I'll stick with my original choice 22x9.5 Vossen HF-2
Thanks again for all the feedback
w/o getting into a staggered vs non-staggered deal here... GTRs, P-cars, Telsa P's and on an on come OE with staggered setups, but yes they are dialed in for it. That said, my choice was purely visual to try and get more concave & beefier look out back. Yes a square setup is much more practical for rotating, but we put such few miles on our cars to make that too relevant to us. If I were planning to seriously track this car i'd likely have a dedicated wheels/tires in a square setup.

Did you find load rating for these? They look great but flow formed wheels have gained strength on the barrel and not the face or hub of the wheel and given the weight of our cars I worry about that design.
No official load #s were avail from Ferrada, but weight wasn't flagged in our friends ordering portal. Aside from Signature wheels, i'd be more confident in these wheels than many other aftermarket setups people have been running w/o issue. Also seen these on piggy chargers/audis etc and other lines on bigger SUVs and Trucks. I put my truck's lesser quality flowformed wheels through some serious abuse on race courses and out west, and yet to break one.... I know many of you here are engineers, so not sure if that will ever suffice for yall ? ?

Nice rims choice. I hope that you like those DWS tires. I bought a pair for a different car and handling went completely out the window. The rounded & soft sidewalls made it handle as well as a minivan. Have you had a chance to take the car out for a spirited drive yet?
Since this is "Mrs Sitdown's car", there is no way I was going to have her daily on any summer tires in Chicago. Most all of my miles so far have been spirited ? Straightline they hook-up pretty well for an A/S tire, cutting 1.90 60fts, same or better than my Pzeros and so far my few good limit tests around our x-way cloverleaf interchange didn't leave me disappointed, or thinking i wanted to go back to the Pzeros. In the end theyre an A/S tire, so have taller tread blocks, but unless your coming from sportCup2s or 888Rs I think the minivan comparison is a stretch ??

From the 245s to 245/275 I have not noticed that to be the case in my week or so on them. I would be less worried about a "handling compromise" for fun daily use.

I usually keep my OE setup intact for resale and to use one as a full-size spare, so just got (4) four new OE TPMS sensors for the new wheelset.

Thanks for the complement and there are a few other members that have copied my exact staggered setup that I have been in contact with that don't post here. None of us have had any issues so far.

My S550 came from the factory with a staggered setup and I ran a staggered setup on my Focus RS and did track that car and it was awesome, no issues. Like you I am running a staggered setup on the Mach-E purely for looks out back and better handling for spirited driving and I got just want I wanted. My setup is front 20x8.5 with 255/45/20 tires and rear 20x10 with 295/40/20 tires.

Here is something I have not discussed before and that is range. I want to mention right up front I don't care about range otherwise I would not have changed the wheel/tire setup at all. I also know other members here don't care about range that have changed their set up either. We are all mainly wanting a better handling, better looking car.

That said, the first set of tires on my Signature wheels were Michelin Latitude Sport 3's and I noticed a drop in range but was not all that much. My driving from charge to charge is similar so I would generally see a range of 250 or so, plus or minus 10 miles. Stock wheels/tires was around 270 plus or minus 10. A few months ago I changed to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV and the range dropped down another 20 miles or so and now average around 230. I knew the Latitude Sport 3's were touted as having a lower rolling resistance and it shows but they did not handle as well as the Pilot Sport 4 SUV's. Steering was not a sharp either.

My GT/PE comes in early next month and I will be moving my wheels from the Premium (selling it) over to the GT/PE and changing the tires to all seasons. I am selling my F150 and the Mach-E will be the only vehicle I will have that I can drive in cold weather and light snow so need all seasons. I am a Michelin guy through and through. Every vehicle I have had in the last 35 years I change out the OEM tires to Michelins unless the car/truck came with them. For the first time I will not be buying Michelin's for this GT/PE. While I have had several vehicles with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's, I don't want them for this car. They are one of the highest rated all seasons but also a very noisy and harsh riding tire. They were really bad on my Escape in this regard and decided to look for something else.

After reading a lot of reviews, I decided to go with the revised compound Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus tires. They are rated just about as good as the Michelin's but are known to be very quiet and a smooth ride. Owning a GT500, it's not like I am looking for maximum performance out of a tire but want decent performance with an all season and looking forward to seeing how they perform. I am getting them installed next week on my wheels and will be running them on my Premium for about a month and will report back how they handle and ride and what the difference in range might be.

I also keep my OEM setups stored as I always buy aftermarket wheels and tires shortly after purchasing a car.

I think GTPE rims go straight past breaking and into robbing the bank. Isn't the Ford msrp around $1K/wheel? Even the usual discount Ford parts sites arenā€™t going to get you below $3200-3600 a set. Maybe eBay?
I hate to mention this, but I've seen aluminum wheels priced at $1,200, $1,500, $1,800, $2,300 and $3,300 APIECE...(times 4).

Agreed, but those are usually lightweight forged wheels from HRE, Forgeline or whomever, not relatively narrow and heavy 30+ lb OEM units.

I think you have this backwards...flow-formed means the BARREL is flow-formed, and the center is forged?

No I do not. I wrote what you just said (except for the center being forged, which it is not). The Barrel is flow-formed which means the Barrel gained strength. The center is not forged. The center is still cast and the weak point so flow formed wheels load rating is still important to understand for our vehicles.

Gotcha...the wheels I'm using have forged CENTERS, and flow-formed barrels.

There's no such thing to my knowledge. Its either cast, flow formed or forged...unless maybe it's a two piece wheel? Otherwise it's all one block of metal and it would not be possible to flow form forged metal already.

It's a 2-piece wheel. At 9.5", it would have been a 3-piece. Forged centers, flow-formed barrels.

I did get word from Ferrada, the FR8s are rated at 810kg per wheel. So 1780lbs per corner or 7100lbs... well within the margins for ME use
