Got a free second keyfob, from Ford!

First thing I did!
It works, it was part of the deal to start with I suppose. I just picked up the key. I did not have to give them mine to program the second.

No. It's only in some countries in Europe.

I am willing to bet the 2 key fob thing continues until a point where Ford is so confident in PAAK that they go by their written word in the 2022 order form of one fob... even for the GT/GTPE. We'll see when more people take delivery of any trim / model and hopefully post something to the forum.

Picked up my red MME last Friday. Loving every minute!
On Monday I got a call from the sales guy who managed the purchase. He told me to go and get my second keyfob!
The guys at the dealership told me that Ford sent the key because they know that PAAK is not good enough. I asked the guy if the keyfob needed to be programmed or if I had to pay for it. He said that it was included in the purchase and already programmed.
This is great, FordPass, kinda works for me but I could not set it up for my wife on her phone, Now she has her own key!

So I would suggest, if you didn't get 2 keyfobs, go and ask for your extra one at the dealership.

Congrats on getting another Fob from your dealer! We got our dealer to pay for it but we had to go to another dealer to get it programmed at NO cost to us!

I wonder what the actual cost of a fob is to Ford? How much would it cost to make and program a second fob for every MME so far? With PaaK being in its infancy, they should have known better.
Having said that, both of our current cars have two fobs but we only ever use one. The second fobs just sit in the safe. If you share a car I can see it being a big deal though.

Considering Ford was only charging $30 for them before they ran out of stock, it's probably not much.

2 fobs programmed by Ford for a Ford will always be more reliable than miscellaneous phones.

I hope that guy got fired.

The next generation of PaaK will use UWB, which should be much more reliable than Bluetooth LE. Bluetooth just wasn't designed for this application.

Curious what your source is on this. My phone has uwb and I'd pay something to be able to swap out existing PaaK hardware in the car with a uwb version...

If you are OK with paying for one there are a number of aftermarket vendors selling keys. They just need to be programmed.
