I am out.
Not ready to trust my life to cameras and software.
If I am going to keep my hand on the wheel anyway......then I don't see the benefit of having Blue Cruise.
If I wanted a self-driving car I probably wouldnā€™t have gotten an MME. I like driving. Iā€™ll use adaptive cruise control and pretend itā€™s BlueCruise.

Out.
I'm not driving freeway enough to make it worthwhile.
I've seen many toss off that $600 is reasonable, cheap, whatever, also comparing to how much Tesla charges, etc. $600 is still a pretty good chunk of money. It works out to $16.66/month and, while not a huge hit, I have plenty of other stuff to spend that money on. Not a value proposition for my driving situation.

How much longer is ā€œalmostā€? First, they said Q3, now, theyā€™re saying ā€œfallā€, which I suppose technically gives them until December 21 to get BlueCruise pushed out to one car so they can say theyā€™ve deployed it (Iā€™m not counting cars from the factory with it already turned on).

Seriously...I have a roadtrip at the end of the month and would love to have BlueCruise for the long, boring stretches. And yes, I'm whining.

Obviously we want it to be deployed when it's safe and ready but according to Mike Levine, Ford press releases, and literal GT owners using it, it seems to be ready and "available now"! lol Ford needs to get MUCH much better at rolling out software if they want to compete with Tesla and now GM, apparently.

A good friend of mine is a civilian contractor for the military who works on autonomous driving vehicles. From the way he talks, he has more trust in the camera and software than he does in humans driving.

Do you have a link to the map? I haven't seen it. I would assume the 405 is also there, not that it helps you in leavenworth much.

To be fair, you're not trusting your life much more than you would with the cruise control of today. You're still required to pay attention. Ford is just saying we've mapped these roads and its pretty safe so you can have your hands 30cm from the wheel rather than right on it.

I love it on my Tesla AP 1.0 and am eager to compare the differences with BC since my AP isn't "hands free" at all. I also can't help but feel like we will look back on this era and wonder how in the hell we ever let humans control 2+ton vehicles at highway speeds when computers can do it so much better. That, of course, requires all cars be computer-driven though so that they can communicate with each other. Far far away methinks

you're already trusting your life to software since you're driving a car that was manufactured since approximately 1980.

We've taken a 2,800 mile and a 1,900 mile trip, and wish I'd have BlueCruise for those. Lost Lane Centering on the last trip, and really noticed that missing.

If it comes in October (as newly promised), we'll likely wait to activate it for our next trip, no sense paying for it when it doesn't help local driving.

Iā€™m in for the first 3 years. I didnā€™t get the Smurfmobile to save the planet. Thatā€™s a great additional benefit, but not my reason. I got the Smurfmobile because I am a tech nerd. I want to see what they can do with all this new tech stuffed into a car. My main intention is to use it on the approximately 1/2 of my daily commute to see how it does handle normal moderately heavy traffic in the Detroit area.

I donā€™t intend to trust it very much until Iā€™ve got quite a few miles on it, but at about 30 miles per day to work and back (that BlueCruise should be available on) it shouldnā€™t take more than a couple months to either feel pretty comfortable with it or hate it.

I do have a plan to drive out to Colorado next spring/summer, so if it has won me over by then, it will get to do a significant portion of the control for that.

Once the 3 years is up, Iā€™ll look at what Ford is going to offer continuing service for price wise, and decide at that point if the utility is high enough to warrant keeping it.
New forum member here, got my GTPE a few weeks ago. I think you'll like BlueCruise. I have a 20 mile commute to work and most of that is on an interstate-quality highway that is a bypass around the city. The annoying thing is that with Ford adaptive cruise control, it knows the speed limit regions and there is a point where it goes from 65 to 50 so it's very abrupt and annoying when it slows down rapidly (this is even if you have the cruise speed set to a different value). There is also one part of the highway that gets poor cell reception and it asks me to take control of the steering wheel but it only lasts for about 10 seconds and then resumes control. (edit: It's also on a fairly sharp curve in the highway, so I'm not sure if it's because of the lack of cell signal or if it's from how tight the turn is).

I'd summarize it as basically adaptive cruise control with lane centering. When you change lanes, you use your turn signal and it temporarily disables hands-free (becomes normal cruise control) then goes back to hands-free once you complete the lane change yourself. Overall though I like it and it makes my commutes much more relaxing, but does have some quirks.

I personally think, with the past press, that people already equipped should get a month free trial at the very least.

I think asking $600 right up front when we have already paid for the hardware is a bit much. They should at least let us try the system out before shelling out the $600.
I thought they rolled in the $600 into the cost and that's why the first 3 years is 'free'

Personally, I don't even use adaptive cruise (yet) during daily trips to the office/home ~22 miles isn't a 'game changer' I haven't flicked the cruise control yet. My 'old' KonaEV I tried it a few times and for the most part their adaptive cruise works ok, the buffer they give you between cars is pretty big, like 4-5 cars worth, just enough for people to slip in front of you and push you further and further back.

I suppose there's a setting that says follow closer?

Yes, there is a button above the lane assist on the steering wheel that has 3 different levels of how close the adaptive cruise control follows and you just cycle through the 3 options when pressed.
