I can’t wait until the mainstream auto media entities start doing more actual range testing and including those results rather than EPA estimates. All 3 of these EVs exceeded their EPA estimates in the big Edmunds EV range test. The CA Rt1 even got 343 miles iirc.
Agreed- it's flabbergasting that these "professionals" aren't aware of the discrepancy of real-world vs EPA range. Sure it would take 3 or 4 hours of their time to run all 3 cars on a track until dead, but sometimes you have to invest more time actually testing than writing up cute and clever phrases.

The Volvo C40 Recharge came up in my feed. Nice car and fast, but only a little more than 200 miles range for a starting price of $60K. No thanks!

While the writer did a decent job of listing features and comparisons, I give them a D+ in terms of actual reviewing and coming to a helpful conclusion.

Did any car actually win the comparison? The conclusion was extremely wishy washy.

Typical of MT these days, declare the MME the winner in a virtual whisper. But I guess it was fairly informative for EV newbs.

Interesting that these were the three cars we compared when looking at our first EV, and basically we came to the same conclusion (the Mach-E is best).

We ranked the ID4 as third...it's right sized, nice looking, comfortable, with good range and charging speed...but the ergonomics are terrible (to us, anyway). Bad enough to be a deal breaker.

We put the Bolt EUV second...perfect size, good range, good ergonomics (best balance of screens v physical buttons, IMO)...but the charging speed and less than comfortable seats (fine for daily stuff, not so much for longer drives) kinda killed it for us. Would be a great second car. We need our EV to be a primary car. Thus...

We test drove the Mach-E last, almost on a whim (thinking we can't "afford" one), but it was just so much more comfortable and nicer to drive, we were hooked. We're not fans of the big screen, but love everything else about it. So long story short we ordered one and decided we'd just figure out how to "afford" it. This was July, and we're expecting it around Thanksgiving. We'll know then if we made the right decision!

Car and Driver does a test with EVs where they run them with cruise control at 75mph on highways. Teslas consistently achieve substantially less than rated range. The MME was just shy of the Tesla despite the significantly lower rated range. The Porsche Taycan went MUCH further than their rated range. The info is out there but it can be hard to find.

The XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge would be such better vehicles if they only had like at least 250-300 miles of range. The 200-223 is just really off-putting for that price. Otherwise though it looks like a really nice vehicle

Besides, one of the three looks hot and drives even hotter.

"...lives up to the Mustang name" Wow, for a mainstream car-guy publication like MT to say that is pretty outstanding.
