I have a Select with the 6 speaker system. I have already added a sub in the back. I was wondering if you think it would be worth it or have a substantial benefit if I swapped the stock speakers with aftermarket ones? To me it appears the 2 dash speakers barely provide any vocal audio, it seems to be more background sound.

Anyone have any input on this? Also can someone confirm the speaker sizes for the 6 speaker system?

I used to run a car audio shop 40 years ago. My 2 cents is that modern car sound systems can always be improved limited only by your budget. And don’t expect it to be cheap.

Personally, I'd wait for a well-known audio manufacturer to build direct-fit drop-in replacements. This maximizes the ease of installation simply down to remove and replace - no need to cut/splice wires, deal with custom brackets, etc.

I'd expect something in a year or two.

I just picked up my Mach-E and it has the 10-speaker system. Personally i am looking at forums now for information how to upgrade the speakers. Even though my point of reference is a sound system on a BMW i3 (Harmon Kardon)--it sounded much better and it costed only $800 as an option.

The bass is just too bassy and too deep and everything shakes and vibrates. It should be a type of sound that only comes to fore when is needed and not bleed throughout the midrange frequencies.

So i dont know if better speakers are needed or maybe a better equalizer?

I'm referring to the Select 6 speaker system.
The only thing im disappointed with in my ma he is the sound system. The 6 speakers are good for talk radio. My local stereo shop won’t touch my car either. Grrr

Modern cars have so much DSP that is tuned for the speakers it comes with that replacing those speakers only likely will make it sound worse. I’m not sure specifically on the base system but I believe the B&O for sure would have worse sound with better speakers.

I would however add a sub in your case.

I put in a Kicker HS10 powered sub enclosure. For the speaker input I tapped into the rear speaker wire that is running under the foot panels of the front doors on each side of the car.

Worrying so much about having a loud stereo system when I was younger has relieved me from having to worry about it now. All I wish that could happen at this point is for the ringing (tinnitus) in my ears to go away...

This will soon be available from Light Harmonic, a well-known third party seller for speakers for all Tesla Models and with great and amazing feedback from customers.
