UPDATED: Prototyping is complete! Now to production!!!

Check out my updated design! It's a MagSafe charging mat for the passenger side of the Mustang Mach-E, but I have now added a driver side camera cutout.
I also added a cutout for a MagSafe "compatible" metal ring to keep the driver's phone planted when doing 0-60 in < 3.5 seconds. Haha!

These pictures show the prototype in flexible TPU. The final final will have a more matte finish and no visible 3D printing "artifacts."

The driver side isn't thick enough for a full-depth camera cutout, so 1 mm was the most I could manage. A 1 mm cutout wasn't going to do much, so I added a 2 mm raised lip around the camera cutout, which corresponds to the thickness of the lip on a stock Apple branded iPhone 13 case.
Even with the thickness limitations, my design improves upon the stock driver side mat by reducing the thickness by ~1.5 mm.

This approach should improve the driver side Qi charging for folks who have been having trouble with it on the stock mat.

This entire project is optimized for iPhone 13 (Pro), but will work for iPhone 12 (Pro) and probably older, but not the MAX-sized phones.

I repeat... This does not work with oversized phones. I did verify with an iPhone 13 MAX on the driver side. It's way too cramped and just won't work, given I had to cheat the center divider a few millimeters to the left (which was to accommodate the width of the passenger side iPhone 13).

(End of update...)

Prior design (for thread posterity)...

My wife's iPhone won't lay flat in that space with my phone on the left. :(
Plus, she has stuff attached to the back of her phone case that she has no choice to plug in anyway.
Cool idea though.

This is for "normal" sized iPhones, not iPhablets (not MAX). Y'all want iPhablet support, hold 'em in your hand and use a cable to charge. =D

Cool idea. The bend radii look a little tight on the corners, I'd be worried it might damage the cable or cause hot spots. A good guideline is to use the cable's own diameter. The bare minimum is that the bend radius should be 4x the cable diameter. A more conservative multiplier would be 8x. I know space is an issue since you have to avoid the inductive area, but it still looks like there's space to work with on the MagSafe side if you wanted to increase the bend radius in your design. I've attached an alternative that would be of similar length.

That is amazing!! If you could do a camera bump cutout on the other side that would be perfect. I'd line up to buy one!!

I think she has iPhone X. It is pretty old but seems like a normal size phone....maybe a little on the big side but not a tablet either.

I'm just waiting for someone to come up with a new version of that rubber mat that doesn't have the top "divider" or whatever so a tall phone has no issues hitting it. @AOSK make it happen!
Top divider would be no problem to eliminate from my design, but how to know when your phone is ideally centered over the charging area?
I can't really accommodate a phone I don't own. :-/

Already added a camera bump out for drivers side, last night, but it's little more than a placement guide at only 1 mm deep. The drivers side of my mat is only 2mm deep as it is, so 1 mm was as deep as I could safely go. Still this should afford about 1.5 mm reduced distance (vs. stock MME mat) between the phone and the built-in charger on the drivers side. Clearly these camera bump outs are very iPhone specific.

iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 are only marginally progressively bigger. All "regular sized" phones to me. So no problem fitting on the right side if the phone on the left side doesn't encroach across the divider. Must be the stuff she has attached to her phone that would prevent it from fitting the space.

Nice! Oh ya it varies widely by model. I’d go with the 13 Pro as a template, that one is the biggest so far. It would also helps with my biggest problems, the phone slipping back when I press hard on the accelerator ?
