Well my son accidentally had my mother’s debit card in his pocket when we arrived home last evening, after the previous test. Since it was cold and I was awake early, I decided to repeat the test in reverse. I departed at 6:24 am with my new Premium ER AWD.

23F at home.. Quickly dropped to 18F within 5 miles( I live on coast and inland was colder). 93% state of charge. Prewarmed to warm. 70F cabin set point. Seat heat, wheel heat, fan for e-heat on 1. BlueCruise used the whole way, 5 mph over.

1st leg, 35.3 miles. Cruise all the way, 47.3 MPH average. Clear local and non hi-way roads. 2.4 mi/kWh. Range 88*2.4=211 miles. Simply awesome, the EPA range rating of my Old and Sold, Select AWD, awaiting shipment to a far away place.

2nd leg, 77.4 miles. Bluecruise with breakfast (OMG did I say how awesome BLuecruise is….), 72 MPH set point, 17F when started. 25 F when arrived at exit. Lowest temp noticed 16F. All hi-way. 2.2 mi/kWh. Range 88*2.2=194 miles.

GOM is way off. Started with reported range of 161@93%. Arrived at start of second leg reporting 122@74%. Arrived at end of second leg, 46@29%. Only 690 miles on the car.

my battery warning was sent to 50 miles. Got the warning and Apple Maps pops up on CarPlay showing me local charge stations. That’s pretty cool. Not the Ford Navi……

I love this EV. Hands down it’s a keeper. And it’s now bathed in Road Salt.

Getting first DCFC now at Famed
Cassiopeia EVGo 50 Kw that faulted on my Selects last attempt after getting 1.7.1. I guess it works with the latest software.

Finally, Whisper and no 1 pedal was used for all of these runs.

Great writeup. As someone in the mid-atlantic/south these are generally the coolest temps we'll see all winter (barring the mountains). Good to know the range still holds up nicely!

Did I read that correctly?? You have the low battery warning on the Mach-E infotainment car settings set to 50 miles, and when that low battery warning was triggered it automatically brought up a list of available nearby chargers on (Apple Car Play maps) all on it's own... as in not on the built-in infotainment Maps?

That's news to me, and would be fantastic if this works on both CarPlay and Android Auto.

If I'm understanding this correctly, can you please advise if you had to enable any options to get this to happen AUTOMATICALLY on 3rd party Maps? Or did it just do it by default?

My phone was connected by CarPlay.

The default low battery alarm is 50 miles from Ford. I did not adjust it when at the dealer.

When it hit 50 miles of range, A Message comes up as a big orange flag on the speedo screen warning you of a low battery. I could not photo that. I did get a photo of the “orange colored” battery range showing it was in alarm after the message went away. My CarPlay came on the big screen, see photo, and CarPlay showed the charge stations near me on Apple Maps. I enabled nothing.

I was NOT using Apple Maps for Nav. If it was, it was doing it automatically, as it sometimes does that as I travel there a lot.

It was pretty much all defaults except my phone connected to wireless CarPlay.

YES I was shocked.

That warning has now been reset to 20 miles.

I just realized - you have a Select which has a 68kwh battery, not 88. So your actual range at 2.4 mi/kwh is 163 miles

I have both. Until my Select is picked up this week. I bought an AWD Premium ER last week, used for this testing,

OK, so you were just referencing the computed cold weather range of the premium as being the same as the Select you don't have.

After my last post I looked closely at the pictures and realized it was a premium ER and got even more confused.

In the words of Emily Latella "Oh, well that's different. Never mind"

I clarified it in the write up. My Select is taking up driveway space awaiting shipment. It was ironic that my Winter non Hi-way ER range ended up at the EPA range of my Select. If I had not sold it, I would have done the test with it. It would have been a lot less and required more charging for sure.

When I returned home from moms, I took the hi-way again. it warmed to 28F-30F. I used Bluecruse and stayed at 70 MPH Speed limit, for the 78 miles, all Hi-way. Heat on 68, fan on 1. I got 2.6 mi/kWh or a range of 2.6*88=229 miles, not bad again. I am very pleased.

Nice, glad to see the latest software is working fairly well, hopefully this trickles down to folks with older cars eventually.

All in all, it looks like you only lost about 1/3 of your range in the cold, which is what I'd expect.

Curious, does your window sticker say 88 or 91 kWh, also is the EPA range on it still 270 mi?

28% range loss from EPA combined which is great in sub 20F temps AND hi-way speeds. Window sticker attached.

The software frustration was one of my primary reasons for selling and upgrading. Ford’s got a lot of work to do making existing customers happy. I was fortunate to get 1.7.1 but it’s obvious there are many more to get to where the new one is…

Interesting GOM update today. It is reporting 193 Miles full charge (164@85%). Since the the last trip we took the range calculated was an actual 194 miles. It's still light in the real range, but is matching my recent highway experience and only driven a few miles since that trip.....Maybe it will find itself soon.
