Translated from this press release:

Opening for ordering: Successful testing of Mustang Mach-E in Norway
Press release • Sep 02, 2020 11:28 AM EDT

Ford Mustang Mach-E Ford Announces RWD WLTP Range Increase, Norwegian Orders Starting September 17th boirktuataflqayngrk

After more than 2500 km on Norwegian roads and extensive testing against the Norwegian charging network, Ford Motor concludes Norway with a successful test period of mustang mach-e. On September 17, it opens up for final ordering of the electric SUV.

"In a number of areas, such as charging speed and range, it has overperformed compared to what we expected. With our preproduction model, we drove 484 km between Oslo and Trondheim without a charging stop. Still we had 14% battery capacity left. We are very pleased with that, although of course it was an unceremonious test at a relatively leisurely pace for me to be," says Ceo of Ford Motor Norway, Per Gunnar Berg.

The goal of testing Ford's new electric SUV on Norwegian roads and norwegian charging stations is to give the latest input to Ford centrally before customer deliveries of Mustang Mach-E start in Norway in early 2021.

Test drive 2,500 km: Mustang genes galore

"We have had a Mustang Mach-E test drive more than 2500 km on Norwegian roads of very varying standards. The car is very spacious, comfortable and has very good handling. There are Mustang genes galore for the drivers," says Berg.

The car that arrived Norway Monday a week ago is a preproduction variant with four-wheel drive and a range of up to 540 km.

"It was a very pleasant experience to drive the car to Trondheim. You sit high and have a good overview of the whole car. Even with my height of 1.91 meters, I also found myself well in the seat on the long trip. To the many thousands who have already pre-ordered the car, I just want to say that they can rejoice. This was even better than expected," says Berg.

Up to 610 km range

Ford Motor Norway plans for confirmation of orders from September 17. Delivery starts from early 2021. Both four-wheel drive and rear wheel drive will be available from the start.

At the same time, Ford is also announcing that the range of the new and far stricter WLTP measurement method on the rear-wheel-drive variant has been adjusted from 600 to 610 km. According to ford Motor Norway everything also indicates that retrofitting the ski hatch in the trunk will be possible.

The Mustang Mach-E will be able to pull trailers with permissible total weight up to 750kg, but it will not be type approved for roof load. Ford will offer solutions for ski freight, bike freight, and the like on the available towbar.

Interesting. Range up from 375 miles to 381 miles. Also interesting that the car will not be type approved for a roof rack(load). I wonder if that is specific to Norway or everywhere.

If their order book is to open on 17th September then hopefully UK will be close by ?????

Do you know if Norway's regulations and rules concerning cars are in sync with the EU rules? If so, the same restriction regarding roof racks might apply there.

Just idle curiosity is all.

Very interesting!

For those who likes numbers, he did 301 miles with 75,7 kWh (14% of 88 kWh battery left).

So that's 3.97 miles /kWh (15,6 kWh / 100 km for us Canadians), which would translate to a range of 350 miles for the AWD long range.

There are no highway between those 2 cities. Google map estimate the travel time at 6h16 (average speed 48 MPH)

And that's an AWD model. The "Long Ranger" can do more!

I assume that this one had the 88 kWh battery. And yes that's the AWD, we can see it in the video
in EU Ford advertises with 76kw and 99kw batteries.
There is no 88kw for “us Europeans”.

For as I know, as a Dutchie, 90% of the EU car regulations are equal between EU-countries so my guess is that UK and NL cannot do a roofrack either (why do you want an ugly roofrack on this bad-*ss looking car anyway? )

88 is the new 99
Ford is switching its language to list "Usable Capacity", at least in US:

For EU it still is 76 and 99 and i think that their not going to change that as people might cause an issue or cancel as they ordered a 76/99kw and not an 6x/88 kw car.

@phila, are you familiar with that route?

If you figure that 70% range based on this AWD ER video is accurate, then that'd be 220mi which would be regained in 45 mins of charging, or put another way; 4.9mi (8km) of range every minute on a 150kW charger. That'd be 147 miles of range in 30 minutes.

@dbsb3233, does my math check out?

Whatever they write, every EV as a battery reserve that is unused to preserve battery life. Tesla as the smallest one (like 2/77).

You won't get a bigger usable battery in Europe. They also announced 77 and 99 in North America and they disclosed the usable proportion in the order guide. Everybody knew that there will be a reserve, the question was how much? The reserve is quite big, they may unlock part of it after seeing real live battery data once released. Jaguar increased the autonomy of the I-Pace a year after release.

So if they're getting 300 to 350 on 88/(or99kwh) then the Mach E configurator is conservative at about 30 to 100 kwh/mi BELOW real world use. Am I reading that right?

Meaning the premium long range AWD @ 88 got at least 300 miles, when it was rated for 270 miles.

If the GT could get at least 300miles that would be amazing.

So ... no roof rack, and in NA, no hitch ? ... Well, anyway, not sure i would use the car to move a bike around anyway. But that "ski hatch" thing seem interesting !
