You said "If you have BlueCruise, PLEASE make sure you have auto updates enabled. If you don't update when this rolls out, BlueCruise will STOP working with no telltale to you until this update completes."

The email said, "Without regular map updates, you may not be able to use the Ford BlueCruise feature."

That must have been drafted by the Legal Department, because your statement is absolute (it won't work) and says you won't know why it isn't working.

The email stays you MAY not be able to use it, if you don't get regular updates. That's not anywhere near what you're saying, and in fact implies you could delay an update and wait, and might not have any issue.
BlueCruise needs the map update to continue functioning.

While the email is technically correct, in reality it means there are an extremely few recently produced vehicles that already have the map updates installed from the assembly plant, so not ALL cars need the update. 99.99% of cars, lol, but not ALL cars. If you put ALL cars in the email, some new owner will tell the dealership to install the new maps. The dealer will respond "you have the new maps". Said owner will come to this forum and post "Ford lied again".

Almost everyone reading this is not one of those car owners, an owner with the map update already installed.

If you are waiting for a BlueCruise install, you need must install the map update, which should be included in a future PowerUp, along with all the upcoming PowerUps, to make BlueCruise functional.

I have BlueCruise but have yet to use full hands-freeā€¦ it still prompts me to touch the wheel every so often. Iā€™m in SoCal and itā€™s worked great but just wondering if/when it is fully hands-free. Iā€™m assuming it will activate on more ā€œremoteā€ freeways. Iā€™m driving to Vegas soon so am hopeful it will be a completely hands free drive at some point.

I'm not following, you're in SoCal and have BlueCruise already but never actually get BlueCruise? Or you are "BlueCruise Ready" but need the update for it still? So far, I've seen the majority of SoCal roads are BlueCruise capable where you don't have to touch the wheel.

Iā€™m slightly confused. You have BlueCruise but it still makes you hold the wheel all the time? Because saying ā€œit prompts me to touch the wheel every so oftenā€ implies there are times you do not have to touch the wheel, which would be ā€œfull hands-freeā€. And you say ā€œit works greatā€, but you are ā€œjust wondering if/when it is fully hands-freeā€. When you are driving on the highway with a big blue bubble around the car, you see a message that says ā€œHands Freeā€, and your car doesnā€™t crash, then it is working great. I use it all the time and really like it!

That was impossible to decipher from my original comment.

I think you are actually using Lane Keep Assist, not Bluecruise if it asks you to periodically put your hands on the wheel.

With LKA you are supposed to KEEP your hands on the wheel at all times, not just touch it occasionally.

This seems to be a confusing concept but there is a very nice picture of a steering wheel with hands on it when it's just lane keeping assist activated. Only if it says the literal words hand's free and a steering wheel without hands on it is it hands free, and hence called blue cruise.

Exactly. This is great for anyone whose Mach can receive updates. Mine has been in the shop siz times since last July due to update problems. Now I'm in the very popular 1.7.1 stuck club. We are initiating a lemon law claim this week. I'm done with paying Ford to be a beta tester for their inept software monkeys.
Why not just sell it? It would be a lot easier than lemon law and you'd probably end up ahead.

Many people seem to not understand what is a simple concept, but due to changes in names and lack of clarification from Ford, remains confusing. There is information that can be read that explains it, but people largely don't read.

BlueCruise is the name of Ford's hands-free driving, which was formerly called Active Drive Assist).

BlueCruise only works on roads that Ford has mapped out with advanced technology, 130,000 miles and counting.

If a vehicle is equipped with the proper software and hardware for BlueCruise, then when you're not on a BlueCruise mapped road, you can't drive without your hands. However, labeling on the screen is confusing people that think they're driving with BlueCruise, when they aren't.

Some Mach-Es and some F-150s have shipped from the factory with BlueCruise hardware and software, and can drive hands-free NOW. Their window stickers have the words "BlueCruise" on them.

Some Mach-Es and some F-150s have shipped from the factory with BlueCruise hardware, but not software, and cannot drive hands-free NOW. Some of these people paid $600 when they bought the vehicle, early buyers will have to pay $600 when they go to activate BlueCruise at some point, perhaps in 2022, perhaps not...

Some Mach-Es, and some F-150s do not have BlueCruise hardware, and therefore can never run BlueCruise.

Hope this helps.

Except that on vehicles with BlueCruise, when they active cruise, but it's not on a BlueCruise-enabled road, it says the words "BlueCruise On Watch the road Be prepared to resume control."

That's where some people get confused.

I feel like eventually all driving assist features will be under BlueCruise, whether hands-free or not

mine just goes from "BLUE CRUISE" back to the older style, It is obvious which you are on at a glance and by the warning chnage to hold the wheel vs eyes on the road. And BC is way more reliable than the non BC system as far as how it keeps the lane..

The most obvious thing people should be coaching is that when Blue Cruise is active, the entire screen's background is...blue. When it is inactive (but other features like lane assist may be on), the screen's background is black. Simple.
